As you all know by now, on day 1 of the draft Habs GM Pierre Gauthier traded up for the 22nd pick to take towering defencemen Jarred Tinordi.

Let's now take a look at who the Habs picked on day 2.
Pick #113: Mark MacMillan
MacMillan is a 6'0", 150 pound, 18 year old forward from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL. During the 2009/2010 season, MacMillan tallied 80 points (26G, 54A) in 59 games for the Bulldogs. With the OHA Major Midgets in 2008/2009, Mark played in 49 games, scoring 16 goals while adding 20 assists for 36 points. Mark is described as a skilled puck handler and strong skater who understands the offensive side of the game.
I like this kids production potential and size. The obvious knock is the kids weight. He need to work hard to put on some extra pounds.
Pick #117: Morgan Ellis
Ellis is a 6'1", 197 pound, 18 year old d-man from the Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL. During the 2009/2010 season, Ellis tallied 29 points (4G, 29A) in 60 games for the Eagles. He was one the final players cut form this year’s National Under 18 team. Morgan is considered a top defensive prospect in the QMJHL. He scored his first “Q” League goal on Sept. 24, 2009 versus Gatineau. On June 5th, 2010, Ellis was named Captain of the Eagles. He is the first 18-year old captain that the Eagles have had since James Sheppard in the 2006-07 season.
Well folks, Being originally from Cape Breton, I can't help but like this kid. Signs of leadership, decent production, heart, sounds like a good combination to me. Players like him can never hurt to have.
Pick #147: Brendan Gallagher
Gallagher is a 5'9", 163 pound, 18 year old right wing from the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. During the 2009/2010 season, Gallagher tallied 81 points (41G, 40A) in 72 games for the Giants, placing him 16th overall in WHL scoring. He also racked up 111 penalty minutes on the season. In 16 playoff games, Gallagher scored 11 goals and added 10 assists for 21 points.
I have to agree with Boone (HabsInsideOut) that this guy could be most interesting pick of all. It's clear that he's not a very big guy, but I can't help but wonder how big his heart must be to produce like that. I can't help but think that this kid could be the next Cammalleri. No pressure!!
Pick #207: John Westin
Westin is a 6'0", 183 pound, 18 year old left wing from the Modo Juniors in Sweden. Westin spent time with a few clubs in 2009/2010 but did tally 26 points (16G, 10A) in 31 games for the MODO U20 team. Westin was also a member of Sweden's silver medal under-18 World Junior Championship team. He tallied 5 points (1G, 4A) in 6 games. He is described as a very hardworking player who forechecks with great intensity and always gives his best effort. He skates hard and has pretty good timing in his hits. While not the most technically skilled player, he still manages to put up some points on the board.
Another interesting pick. Westin was picked 165th in the KHL draft and has signed a 3 year contract with MODO. Over the years, we've seen a tonne of good players come from MODO so let us hope that Trevor Timmins was able to find a diamond in the rough.
Well, there you have it folks. The 2010 draft class of your Montreal Canadiens. With only 5 picks to work with, I still think the Habs did well and chose wisely. Only time will tell.
