Hey HockeyBuzzards,

Today, PPP will phocus on a few recent re-signings in sunny California.

Firstly, the San Jose Sharks re-signed 25-year-old Marc-Edouard Vlasic, one of their most dependable defensemen to a five-year extension, keeping him locked up until the 2017-18 season. Vlasic has quietly become one of the steadiest young rearguards in the Western Conference. Plus, he makes some damn good baby dills!

Secondly, the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings re-signed hulking winger Dustin Penner, a solid contributor in their Stanley Cup run, to a one-year contract. The much-maligned Penner performed admirably playing alongside former Flyers Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, scoring the overtime goal in game 6 against the Phoenix Coyotes, sending the Kings to the Cup Finals. The Kings rewarded him with a new contract and Penner celebrated with a small meal after signing the contract.

Last but not least, the great Teemu Selanne has signed another one-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks. The 42-year-old future Hall-of-Famer will play in his remarkable 20th season and shows no signs of slowing down just yet, scoring 26 goals and 66 points in 82 games last season. That’s amazing at his age. So here’s to a modern day NHL Superhero!
