Been busy the last couple of weeks but I will start blogging with a bit more regularity for those who care. Here is a small piece to keep you occupied.

Last night the Oilers paid homage to the 1984-1985 Edmonton Oilers... in case anyone had forgottten in the last 20 minutes that they were a really good hockey team. It's the mantra this team follows religiously; Reward the past and ignore the facts.

Remember how Milan Lucic was really good 8 years ago? Remember when Ryan Strome had that one good season? Remember when Reinhart was a really good Oil King? Remember when Kris Russell was a top 4 defensem..... okay just kidding with that last one. Kris Russell has never been a top 4 defenseman.

The Oilers sometimes do ignore the past. They ignored that Jordan Eberle was a regular 24+ goal scorer before having one bad year. They ignored that Taylor Hall was the driving force behind this team when everything around him was bad. I can go on and on here.

My point for rehashing all of this is the to stress why the Oilers need to fire Chiarelli.

Like immediately.

Trade deadline is fast approaching and old Petey has not instilled any confidence that he will navigate that in a way which will set the team up for future success. Thinking of Chiarelli trying to “fix” the team this summer has left me shaken in the middle of the night in a cold sweat.

The Oilers need someone else in charge of player personnel on this team. They need someone who wants to build a team that can compete in the current fast and skilled NHL, instead of a team to compete in 2009. That person is not Peter Chiarelli.

By bringing in that person now, it gives them a chance to evaluate the team over the rest of the year and figure out what pieces they do and don't have. This new person can work with the scouts and analyze what types of players that want in the future. The Edmonton Oilers need someone else in charge of this roster and it is in the teams best interests to give this person as much time as they can to evaluate.

Unfortunately I see Peter getting another year to try and fix his mess. This most likely means we will see Nugent Hopkins traded for Pominville and Puljujarvi traded for Rick Nash or something horrible like that. Every day Chiarelli continues to mismanage this team makes the next guys job that much harder.

Thanks for reading.

They should really get Wayne in behind the bench; that would be the icing on the cake.

Preach it brother! Unfortunately the man he reports too is also an over rated flacid penis. Nicholson is completely useless as far as I can tell. Clean house. But who are we kidding we all know that won't happen.

0 bans in 3 years then 2 in 1 week. Can't tell JB to drink bleach and eat tide pods apparently. Instead of just complaining about chia and suggesting he be fired, care to offer suggestions on who should replace him?

A few names that interest me. Keith Gretzky would be an internal upgrade (I know I know) however he had a very good drafting record in Boston and was responsible for a number of the core players that are currently in Boston. If Mike Futa could be pried away from the Kings I think he would be a good choice. He has the experience as well as an understanding of the Western Conference.

I'm having doubts that Lucic would hold much value even with 2 million retained.

They need to fire more than Chiarelli. They need that missy from the Conjuring movies (that I find really hot, and I want to bang) to come aboard and perform an exorcism. Chia is gone, anyone associated with the Oilers from the 80's is gone, any player seen half-assing it on the regular is gone (that's 90% of the team btw). This team needs an all out cleansing.

Remember when I wrote this and suggested the Oilers needed to get rid of Chiarelli before he botched the deadline too? Fun times.

I think Chiarelli did a great job! Without his stellar moves we'd have nothing to complain about, just posts about playoffs and stuff
