"This WAS The Year....FINALLY!"
Buffalo, NY • United States •
Local reports in the Buffalo News seem to suggest that the NY Islanders may not have been prepared for Game 1. See Tim Graham's article in the Buffalo News at http://www.buffalonews.com/111/story/52798.html.

To quote the article, "Signs of slapdash postseason preparations were troubling. Star winger Jason Blake peeked at the Sabres morning skate and asked if Maxim Afinogenov was playing again. The dry-erase board in the Islanders’ dressing room didn’t have Tim Connolly’s number on it, had Drew Stafford on Derek Roy’s line and listed Clarke MacArthur as a scratch.

Afinogenov, the Sabres’ leading scorer last season, played the last three regular-season games. Connolly had played the final two games and was centering the fourth line with Stafford on his right. MacArthur was sent to the minors last week.

'No question, our scouts did a great job in giving us enough information about Buffalo,' [Ted] Nolan said."

Seriously? The season ended on Sunday, the playoffs started on Thursday, and in four days the Islanders didn't know any of this? How is it possible that they could be so unprepared for the game?

Any thoughts?

Seems a little hard to believe, I'm pretty sure Ted Nolan was more prepared than your average hockey pool participant. It was pretty obvious that Afinogenov and Connolly would be in the lineup.

I saw that and I just don't think it would have changed the Isles game plan one bit.
