Looking at the Sharks although they have had their ups and downs to the opening of the season they are really not doing too bad.

Here we our statistically. As of Nov 20th

Teamwise
Joe leads the team in goals with 8 followed by Seto(7) and Michalek(7)
Joe leads the team in assists with 16 followed by Rivet(9) and Erhoff (9)
Joe leads the team in points with 24 followed by Roenick(14) and Marleau(13)
Joe is 282 to 237, 61% in the faceoff circle
Marleau is 99 to 76, 57% in the faceoff circle

What does all these numbers come down to? Defensively the Sharks are playing good.. Not giving many shots and probably blocking alot, I couldn't find a team by team comparison. The penalty kill has has been saving the team's butts. The teams has also been very disciplined not taking penalties and good at moving their feet to draw penalties. Nabby and Joe are carrying the team. The defense has been helping out alot with the offense.

I find it interesting that Joe has taken 519 facoffs to Marleau who has taken the second most facoffs on the team with 175. Which means that Marleau who plays similar minutes to has to be in more shift changes on the fly. Joe is getting more opportunities to start in the offensive zone. This may be one reason why Marleau has been having such a difficult time. Marleau and linemates have to get possession and then transition the puck more. I bet Joe gets more time in the offensive zone.

The Sharks still need to improve. Many forwards are underachieving. Nabby probably could make a few more saves to get his percentage up. The boys need to take more shots. Improvement of the mediocre powerplay would be nice too.

Overall I feel the team has played great defense. For the Sharks to be successful the offense really needs to pick it up. Like duh!
