Hartnell gets off clean

Nashville Predators' forward Scott Hartnell will not recieve a suspension after taking his second game misconduct of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Cheechoo took a blow to the knee in game #1 which resulted in Hartnell's first game misconduct. In last nights games, he was involved in a scuffle, however according to TSN, the league determined that he was in fact involved in the inital altercation and not a secondary fight.

So the Preds got a lucky break there but the odds are very likely they won't be getting two breaks. Alexander Radulov's blindside hit on San Joses' Steve Bernier will be reviewed by the NHL today and I know as much as the next person that this one won't go uncalled. It was right from behind and Bernier smashed his head right up against the boards. Bernier's condition has not been reported as of yet but don't expect him back next game.

This was the second time in as many games that a Predators player cheap-shotted an opponent. Cheechoo's knee injury was not as serious and not much of a cheap shot but thankfully he was able to return to the lineup. As for Bernier, he could potentially miss the remainder of the playoffs. This is only game 2 and so far two players on San Jose could've missed the best part of the game. One would wonder if the Preds are playing it dirty? The first one was an accident (Hartnell on Cheechoo), however the second was not (Radulov on Bernier).

Radulov has a disciplinary hearing with the NHL today and they will decide how long he will be suspended for. I don't think "if" is a matter of discussion here.

Did not see the game last night but did see the one in which Cheechoo was hurt. The injury was a result of him trying to avoid the hit much more than Hartnell giving him a cheap shot. It was just one of those things and I thought that San Jose got lucky getting the call. Glad that Cheech was not seriously injured.

DD is completely right. The hit by Radulov was a direct hit from behind, watch the video the player didn't turn or anything Radulov just decided to make a big dirty hit, and for that he deserved the game misconduct.
