A huge boost of confidents has arose on Long Island after a stunning 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres Saturday night. Goaltender Rick DiPietro stood his ground after playing in his first game in over three weeks. He was by far the best player on the ice after stopping 32 Buffalo shots. Despite the win, the Islanders were actually outshot by a margin of 34-32.

Part of the equation for the Isles to have a chance in this series was to win at least one of the two games in Buffalo, and they did just that. The two teams will head to Long Island tonight where they will play game #3 of the Eastern conference quarterfinal series on Monday.

Well after 2 games you would figure one of the two teams would begin to be worried and as of right now, Buffalo seems to be the more worried team. The next 2 games are in New York, where the Islanders have played outstanding hockey as of late. The Sabres have to win one of them because the odds are very unlikely that this New York team that has built up a truck load of momentum following tonights game will blow a 3-1 series lead. If the Islanders want to remain in this series they have to play the way they did tonight but with a little more defensive game to their plan. Aggression and agility was good for both teams, as tonight they seemed like 2 even teams, but giving Buffalo 34 shots is still to much.

For Buffalo, this series just got a whole lot tougher with DiPietro between the pipes. Their fans probably won't be worried about this but if the Isles manage to come on top next game fear will begin to take over. The Sabres did everything right in their part but were simply outscored and nothing else. This game sets up a great series and the Islanders have already proved me wrong, along with many other people.

Thousands upon thousands of people laughed at Garth Snow taking over as GM. Turns out he's better then most GM's in the league today.

Thousands upon thousands of people expected the Islanders to finish at the bottom of the standings. They proved us wrong.

Thousands upon thousands of people expected the Islanders to miss the playoffs after DiPietro got injured. They made the playoffs in dramatic fashion.

Thousands upon thousands of people expected the Islanders to get swept by the Sabres in round 1. This series is already tied after game 2.

They have proved us wrong in everything except for one that is still in progress, and that is lose the series. Well guess what hockey fans, this series is far from over. Buckle up, because you're in for a wild ride.

Game 3 is Monday at 7:30PM EST.
