The past few weeks I have been watching the Oilers very closely. Even though they have been losing of late, they are not playing bad overall the team seems to be gaining more confidence as the season progresses. A few forwards that have impressed me of late, Linus Omark who more and more every game seems to look more comfortable especially with fellow country men Magnus Paajarvi, and forward Dustin Penner who leads the Oilers in points so far with 36, he has also learned to use his big size to his advantage knocking guys off the puck. As for the Oilers blueline this season it has been a hit and miss situation every since the absense of mobile defensemen Ryan Whitney who is out for the remainder of the season with an injured ankle. With Whitney on the shelf this called for some young defensemen to step up and take on a leadership role. In my opinion a guy that has done a stelar job of this is 23 year old Jeff Petry, who I think has fit into this Edmonton Oiler lineup quite nicely, the great thing about Petry is he is not afraid to jump in the play, but also he looks so calm and very composed no matter the sitution he's in. He is going to make mistakes along the way but it's a learning curve he in Edmonton and he will only get better and continue to grow.

Do you agree or disagree send me your thoughts.

Thanks,
Brad

I like your opinion on Petry, looks like he'll be solid for the Oil in a couple years.I dislike your poor spelling and grammer. It's FORWARD - no E! Use spellcheck, there's about ten spelling mistakes in there.

I have been extremely pleased with Petry. Up until last nights game against Anaheim. Its funny how you post this blog right after his worst game in the NHL but i still agree with you. He's a rookie, rookies make mistakes and have bad games. He'll be a regular in the oilers lineup next year.

Yes, definitely an unfortunate time to post :S. Jeff has looked very calm and decisive out there. He HAS made mistakes, but overall he will be a solid d-man in this league. Sending him back down to OKC is NOT a bad move either. He got his taste and now he can go back so Chorney can get a try. I wouldn't mind seeing Plante up in the big leagues for a bit. Get as many of these guys as possible some solid ice time up here. Gilbert is driving me insane.
