"NYI247, where real fans talk Islanders hockey"
NY • United States • 2011 Years Old • Male
This guy has some nerve coming out and BASHING the league and the Islanders for what took place Friday night.

Learning starts at home, and this idiot signs a weekly paycheck to probably the dirtiest player in the NHL.

I don't like what Gillies did. I will say that first. It was careless and tasteless. Had he taken a shot like that at Cooke I would be singing a different tune however the kid he hit didn't deserve it. I am not saying that kid didn't deserve to take a few shots considering he was running at Islander players the whole game but not the shot given to him none the less.

Being an owner and hall of fame player he has the power to be heard. If he wanted to make a statement loud and clear then he should have dropped Cooke many hits ago. Cooke goes out looking to hurt people and put their careers in jeopardy.

The Islanders came out looking for revenge and to make a statement and they did just that. I don't think we will be seeing people taking liberties against the Isles anytime soon. The Pens will be especially careful next time. They aren't laughing now are they?

To go public and bash the league and another team for what took place is just a wimpy and hypocritical move on his part. If he would have so much as mentioned Cooke and said he doesn't condone that behavior from anyone including his own players then I think the peoples responses would have been much different.

At the end of the day Mario, you look like a fool, a hypocrite and just a flat out baby. Stop crying, you made your bed, now sleep in it.

Is that the Matt Cook bed you are talking about? Granted, Cooke has earned his reputation and his punishment, but does that mean the rest of the team is the same? If you think the Talbot hit was illegal, then why no penalty or better yet...why no fine or suspension upon review?

If you think the reaction of your players...to go after Talbot repeatedly...and then to go after Johnson...for winning a clean fight...ia appropriate, then I guess the Penguins should have gone out to beat up every Washington Capital after the Steckel hit on Crosby. And we should have them all go after Hedmen too.

Not just once...but multiple times...in the same game. And then we should hit some other players that were making clean hits...we should elbow them...then punch them when they are obviously injured...because that's the bed those teams made and now they have to sleep in them.

I didn't defend Gillies

Other than his antics it was clean. Rough but clean like old time hockey

Tangradi wasn't "running" people all game. He was hitting them, you fucking douchebag. I think Gillies is now the dirtiest player in the league. Cooke has never jumped on someone and started punching them after one of his illegal checks.

And for the last time, the Talbot hit on Comeau was clean. It was shoulder to shoulder.

Actually, the organization is still laughing because they will be in the playoffs while the islanders will be playing golf.

Talbot made it through the game fine. If you think you exacted some sort of revenge on him, he isn't injured. Hell, he doesn't even have any marks on his face. He was attacked once, fought twice, and hit zero times. Way to send a message.

Nice life buddy. You get paid to post this garbage? I sure hope so, that would make me HAPPYYYYYY.Get a real job, society-leech.

He didn't say anything about Cooke so why do you keep bringing that up? Cooke was suspended and has been numerous times in the past. Nobody is talking about Cooke so quit whining about him. The issue is Gillies, Martin and Haley and their actions. What scores needed to be settled in a 9-3 game? Your blowing them out of the water then decide it's time to settle the score?
February 15, 2011 2:18 PM ET | Delete
Honestly man, don't go defending your teams actions or trying to justify them. Mario is right, 100% right in what he said. In fact could you not turn what he said into a statement against cooke? Yeah, sure you can and I'm sure he would never defend someone like him anyways. Another fact, the Isles Martin and Gillies deserve harsher punishments for their actions as they were much more dangerous than Goddard jumping off the bench and getting 10 games
February 15, 2011 2:25 PM ET | Delete
THAT is the issue I think Lemieux is going after. The fact that Godard is getting 10 I know it's automatic but look at the actions of Martin and he gets 4 games? Terrible, absolutely terrible that he only gets 4 games for that. Gillies deserves more than 9 for the elbow smash to Tangradi's head that he followed up with numerous sucker punches.

I know you're not outright defending anything they did BUT...."I am not saying that kid didn't deserve to take a few shots considering he was running at Islander players the whole game"....That is defending their actions...."The Islanders came out looking for revenge and to make a statement and they did just that"....Also defense of what they did. What statement were they looking to make? And revenge for what? A clean hit that resulted in a concussion? Or DiPietro being made of glass?

By your books NYI247, the Pens will be looking for revenge next time they play unless i'm mistaking that will be April 2nd. Barring another dirty hit and suspension, Cooke will be in the line up, along with Godard and by your books they will be looking for revenge and to make a statement that nobody will take liberties on their players. One more thing I hate the pens, but what's right is right and whats wrong is wrong, and you are wrong.
February 15, 2011 3:16 PM ET | Delete
Mario is an idiot. He talks all that crap when he has a team who is at the top of penalties and have cooke. Even more important he has a voice that can be heard yet never goes to board of goveners meetings where he can voice whats wrong with the game. I am starting to see why sid cries so much and why on 24/7 cooke kept bitching I got cross checked 9 times so far. It starts at the top.

There is a difference between fighting and cheap shots phillyfran. Pens lead the league in fighting because they have 2 superstars they must defend. Cooke crosses the line but he never pulled a bertuzzi and suckerpunched someone or something as disgusting as what gilles did. Every team has a cooke (carcillo, gilles, avery, bertuzzi).
February 15, 2011 3:48 PM ET | Delete
The islanders just got mad because johnson knocked out diepetro in a CLEAN fight where both participants decided to drop the gloves and talbot knocked comeau with a clean hit. Couple that with the fact that their team has been irelvant for a decade and it was garths snow time of the month and the result was friday night!
February 15, 2011 4:41 PM ET | Delete
by the way i think its awesome that NYI247 thinks he is 2011 years old.
February 15, 2011 9:45 PM ET | Delete
its debatable for a clean fight. some say it looks like an elbow but anyway senators suck
February 15, 2011 10:51 PM ET | Delete
elbow? who says it looks like an elbow? watch the fight and you will clearly see Johnson's fist hit his face, i'm sure if you look close enough you can see his face break and look far enough back you might see the spirits of isles fans break too.

The internet now makes it possible for any douche to have an unedumacated and bias opinon... oh well... probably would have a tough time having a real face to face convo though...even more ironic or HYPOCTICAL if u will, since thats the word everyone likes to throw around..."you look like a fool, a hypocrite and just a flat out baby. Stop crying" listen to your own words...idiot...
February 17, 2011 7:16 PM ET | Delete
Stupid. If you feel as though what the Islanders did was completely legitimate then you are a fool. If you feel that Lemieux's statements were hypocritical then you are a fool. Once the Islanders learn how to play hockey again then they won't have to be pathetic and use revenge as their only form of excitement within the organization.

i think you are an idiot
