With the Leafs, Habs and Sabres done for player predictions, I'd like to move now to the Bruins, a northeast rival. While the Bruins flipped a page in the history books for a new era last season, they found out it was all for not and they landed in last place in the northeast division and missed the playoffs for the second season in a row. The acquisition of Zdeno Chara proved to be a force but any player who plays nearly half the game is going to get tired and that's precisely what happened... his +/- took a big hit. The acquistion of Marc Savard was a funkadelic move for the Bruins, he finished with 96 points ladies and gentleman! Even without Ilya Kovalchuk or Marian Hossa, who apparently ''made'' him. Balogna I tell ya'.... balogna! But then Chiarelli did something ridiculous IMO... and that's trading Brad Boyes for Dennis Wideman, don't get me wrong, I like Wideman and he's got good potential but he doesn't have the impact that Brad Boyes brings, even though their different positions. Then there was the firing of Dave Lewis this summer, good move IMO, espiecially considering they brought in Claude Julien, who I believe is a very good coach who hasn't been given a chance... I'm looking at you Lou! Shortly after this, the Bruins acquired Manny Fernandez through the trading route. Manny is going to have to prove himself in Boston, the Wild are a defensive minded team who excel in that departement, so with a weaker D we'll see how Manny Boy fares... I think he'll do fine. But anyways, enough of me blabbing on about the Bruins moves.. on with the predictions!

NOTE: I'm assuming everyone plays 82 games, but it obviously won't happen, this is an idea of PPG.

Forwards:
Patrice Bergeron: 24 G 83 PTS

Marc Savard: 23 G 95 PTS

Glen Murray: 34 G 56 PTS

Marco Sturm: 29 G 53 PTS

Phil Kessel: 22 G 52 PTS

P-J Axelsson: 14 G 39 PTS

Chuck Kobasew: 8 G 28 PTS

Mark Mowers: 7 G 22 PTS

Bredan Bochenski: 21 G 45 PTS

Shawn Thornton: 5 G 19 PTS

Peter Schaefer: 14 G 44 PTS

David Krejci: 14 G 33 PTS

Defenseman:
Zdeno Chara: 12 G 45 PTS

Andrew Ference: 4 G 17 PTS

Andrew Alberts: 2 G 9 PTS

Aaron Ward: 3 G 15 PTS

Dennis Wideman: 10 G 38 PTS

Bobby Allen: 3 G 11 PTS

Goaltenders:
Manny Fernandez: 2.80 GAA .905 SV% 2 SO

Tim Thomas: 2.90 GAA .900 SV% 1 SO

There you have it, amigo's. With the current line-up intact I do believe the Bruins can challenge for a playoff spot, but in the end I don't see them making the cut. But, hey...anything is possible, right? Thanks to Gerz and Asqua for telling me Donovan was traded for Schaefer.

Zdeno Chara: 12 G 45 PTSHi Ron, Great blog! I look forward in going back and reading the one you did on the Sabres.Chara had an off season last year.... (Yet he still made the ballot tops for the All-Star game, kind of wierd but not complaining hehe.)I think that he was adjusting to the style he was playing but he got better as he got more comfortable with it. I think he will do a lo better this year. Your predictions for him in my opinion at least should be a little higher, but then again who am I to say? I am just an optomistic person hoping he gets back on track.Cheers!

Great Blog.I'm still not sold on Fernandez as a #1. He's been given the chance to be 1 in Dallas and in Minnesota, and never seemed to make the most of his opportunities. I'm aware Belfour was in Dallas at the same time, but you find a way to get it done, and he never had. He's also expensive. I think there were better options to bridge the gap to Rask. We might get the 8th spot. Wait ans see.

Manny Fernandez was one of the Best Goalies in the NHL during his tenure in Boston. Fernandez is a hell of a lot better than Thomas.

EJ, never played for Boston before. And if you mean the Wild that's false... he was beat out by a better goalie in Backstrom. I don't think he's too far ahead of Thomas...in fact, I think they're pretty close.
