I hate you, Toronto, ON • Canada • 27 Years Old • Male
The season is approaching and preseason hockey continues to serve as an indicator for what is to come from the many new faces that compromise the '08-09 Leafs.

Going into the season, many questions are circulating around the struggling franchise. While expectations are low, getting embarrassed is not in the blueprint. The team could surprise, but the nucleus must take a step forward in development.
With that said, let's get down to the nitty gritty. Here are some questions for you all:

1) Will Grabovski serve as the Leafs' No.1 center, and if not, where will he find his place on the team?

2) Will Steen finally break-out this season?

3) Will Schenn be a part of the '08-09 Leafs?

4) Who will serve as the Leafs' captain?

5) Which defenseman will be the odd-man out, and will it result in a trade?

6) Who will be the Leafs' top scorer?

7) How many goals and points will newcomer Kulemin produce? Will he be used on the top line?

8) Will Colaicovo finally stay healthy(ish)?

9) Will the Leafs make the Stanley Cup Playoffs?

10) Will Mats Sundin play for the Leafs this season?

Enjoy the game tonight!

Quick Prediction: 5-2 Leafs

1. No, Grabovski plays Jiri Tlusty's part last season, minor powerplay time, but 4th line duty or healthy scratch. 2. Yes, Steen will score about 60 points. 3. Schenn won't play more than 9 games for TML this year. 4. Pavel Kubina 5. Ian White sent to minors, might get picked up. 6. Jason Blake, 67 points. 7. Sometimes on the top line, he'll score 12 goals and 38 points. 8. Carlo will have his healthiest season in years, but will still miss 12 games 9. No playoffs in Toronto. 10. No. Thanks for the questions, that was fun! Lets hear your answers.

1) Nope, second line.2) I think so, but he's not going to be scoring 30 goals, maybe 20-25.3) Not for the whole season but I believe he'll get a look.4) Either nobody (just alts) or a rotating C.5) White and maybe Van Ryn as well6) Antropov or Kaberle7) 12G, 28PTS...will get some first line time but not whole season8) I have a feeling he will, yes.9) Not a chance in hell.10) No.

1. Yes 2. Define break out... He'll score at least 20 and chip in at least 35 helpers. 3. Not unless there are serious injury issues. 4. The player who earns it. (Probably Kubina or Mayers) 5. White will be out but Cliff will try to trade a more valuable piece like Van Ryn. 6. Antropov with 67 points. 7. 17 goals by young Nik. 8. He'll bounce between the top two lines with most of his time spent with steen and hagman... and excellent line IMO. 8. he'll play 74 games but miss some with a groin issue. 9. Hell No. 10. Nope.

Pretty realistic expectations people are predicting here, nobody's throwing out ridiculous numbers for anybody. Lots of love for Antropov, but I don't see him staying healthy again this year, especially if he starts blocking shots.

Hmm... good call on the ratio of Antro-health to puck-blocking. I think I might revise my answer to question 6. The Maple Leafs' point leader will be Luke Schenn with 82 points, all goals, all scored on breakaways. God I love this kid.

This is totally unrelated to the blog, but since we're all Leafs fans, I'd like to ponder this:With Gonchar gone for pretty much the whole season, it makes me wish that we'd held on to McCabe... one of the teams looking at him were the Pens, and they'd probably give up a nice piece for a PP quarterback like McCabe. Ah well, what can you do?
