Regehr and Myers on the same line!

I don't think they would leave both their big men, who are both more defensive than offensive, on the same pairing, but that's just me. Just as importantly, Regehr and Leopold played together in Calgary before.

Are you kidding me, Myers is a big man but hes is definately all about the Offense. IMO Myers, Erhoff, and Leopold will all get 10 goals or close to it, Regehr and Weber are the Stay at home types. although I like MA Gragnani I dont think you need four Puck pushers I say trade him or Leopold and Either give Brayden McNabb a Shot, but assume that the D stays as is I see Myers-Regehr, Erhoff-Weber, Leopold-Gragnani/McNabb........Morrisonn either traded or will be playing in Rochacha

on the Offensive Side I see Luke Adam Making 3rd line Center and Goose Playing 4th with McCormick and Keleta Spliting time depending on the matchup, although i still believe the Lines will change a bit as i see some more movement coming with a contract or two out the door , possibly even Roy or Pominville if the Right deal arises

i like the foward lines but not the dmen lines. ehrhoff regehr, myers morrisonn, gragnani weber. lets use leopold and one or maybe two prospects to get that first line center. (such as paul stastny)

your jokig right? you really think they are going to drop myers to the third defensive pairing? not happening

I was far from impressed with Myers last season and if he plays like he did last season, he WILL be deserving of that 3rd pairing.

So where does Sekera Fit into all this?
July 6, 2011 4:11 PM ET | Delete
Luke Adam should have a very strong chance of making the team this season after being named the Portland Pirates 3rd ROTY in a row (Ennis 09, Gerbe 10) He should be our 3rd line center on a line w/ Gerbe and Boyes. This may be the final season that Pat Kaleta is needed in Buffalo now that we have added toughness in Regehr and the possibility of Kassian making the team.I also think that they should pair Meyers w/Regehr with hopes of him returning to the way he played his rookie season with Hank.

Sekera will be traded or, if his arbitration is too ridiculous and nobody will take him in a trade, he'll get bought out, which I don't see happening either. I don't think Adam is any substitution and nowhere near an improvement over either Gaustad or McCormick. Adam will probably get one of those two empty forward spots with Kotalik or Kassian or whoever, but I don't see him starting short of an injury.

Also, like I said before, I don't see Myers being paired with Regehr. Myers isn't a baby any more and doesn't need his hand held. He needs to get through his playing issues and step up or move out. This is just the first set of lines based on how things looked at the end of last season, so it could change quickly and often and Ruff so loves to do.

Step up or move out? I think you are being just a tad bit hard on a 21 year old that has the potential to be a huge star in this league. There is no doubt that he slumped last season, but the guy has 85 points in 2 NHL seasons which is nothing to laugh at. The idea of pairing Myers w/ Regehr would be to allow him to join the rush and take more chances like he did during his Rookie season. The way that he can skate with his size makes him a one of a kind player.

I think that Myers can be an all-star defenseman some day. However, how many players have great rookie years, by their standards anyways, and then disappear? I just don't want to see the Sabres have to sign him to a huge contract next year, especially with the money Pegula is throwing around, and have him turn out to be like so many other huge, but disappointing contracts.

His offense isn't the problem, it's been his subpar defense, where he ranked near the bottom of the NHL in plus/minus for a good while last year, and his turnovers that seemed to happen more than normal. If he can change those things, then game on, pay him the big bucks. Otherwise, we need to bail before we're in over our heads.
