"Sabres Today, Flyers Tomorrow"
Buffalo, NY • United States • 2009 Years Old • Male
Speculating on free agency is a lot of fun. Trying to get into the minds of Gm's , players, and agents is what we are all trying to do, but once the player hits the open market, if he has any value, HE ultimately determines where he is going to go. This is why I feel Danny Briere will be a Flyer:

Reason #1: Philly has the need and the money
Since speculation on who will be in Flyer uni for 07-08 began several months back, Danny Briere's name has probably been mentioned the most. It is no secret that the Flyers have a huge need for a 1st line center and they have the money to do it. They have also shown that they are agressive in going after what they want.

Reason #2: Philly looks to be legitimate playoff team in 07-08
The Flyers finished strong following some key trades down the stretch this year. The have stocked up on some terrific young players, have several outstanding veterans, a number 1 netminder, and have now landed two terrific new faces that fill needs in Timmonen and Hartnell. I'm sure Briere sees some attractive similarities in this team compared to Buffalo.

Reason #3: Friends & Family connection number 1
Marty! Marty! Marty has been "recruiting Danny since his 1st day in a Flyer uniform and they are very tight. This recruiting effort has increased quite a bit this past week during their personal training sessions at the Biron homestead in Buffalo. The Biron family and Briere family are pretty close, so there is a comfort level. A Real Estate Agent's card has already been exchanged

Reason #4: Friends & Family connection number 2
Dennis Gauthier and Danny have been great friends since their youth. As long as Denny is in a Flyer uni, Danny will have interest in the Flyers. Word is, a special visit to the Gauthiers is planned for later this summer down on the Jersey Shore!

Reason #5: Sabres are dropping the ball
The fact is Briere would have signed a deal with the Sabres last year for less than what an arbitrator awarded him. Sabres decided not to step up and hammer out a deal and instead took their chance in arbitration ....and lost. It left both sides with a bad taste in their mouths. Well, the Sabres are more or less taking the same approach to negotiations again this year as Danny is about to head towards UFA without even an offer from the Sabres to this point. Sources close to him say is not happy that they would not be more agressively trying to keep him. As many figured Briere would be Sabre if Drury were to leave (which looks likely), this bodes well for the Flyers who look to be next in line!

Pretty compelling reasons to believe Briere will be a Flyer!!!!!!!!!
