The Avalanche is back at .500 in time for the Christmas holidays. Colorado scored early and often as they shut out the Blues 5-0 Tuesday night in Denver. Semyon Varlamov returned after missing six games with a groin injury and recorded his second shutout of the season.

“It’s a big win for us. You know getting Varly back coming in and playing the way he did he was awesome,” Jarome Iginla said after the victory. The veteran winger scored a goal and added an assist tonight.
