Monsieur Price

hey. just as a warning habs fans...you are putting way to much pressure on this carey price kid. talk about expectations for a young guy. remember when you were his age (or still are)? your confidence was not exactly one of your strong points as you developed in life and on the job. and now you and your fellow fans are swarming this kid with unrealistic expectations in a the hot bed of the hockey world? you have many good goalies on your team already. why are you all so eager to get this kid in net when you have other issues on hand with the team?

i applaud and somewhat envy the passion in which montreal fans love their team. but the scrutiny in which you put your players under is not always a healthy thing.

No offense, I thank Carey for his outstanding performance at the WJHC but he isn't all what people think he will be. Price has sub par his entire junior career, all be it he played in Tri-Cities, he still never had a successful campaign until last season. He's a good goaltender, but to think he will eventually become a Brodeur, Kiprusoff, Luongo or even Toskala is out of the question. I hope I'm wrong, and this is just constructive criticism, so I hope Hab fans dont take it out of perspective.

Goalies are tough to predict, and even tougher to develop. For Habs fans hoping he comes in and solves thier problems is too much.Shore up the D, and bring him along slowly... then wait and hopefuly reap the rewards. But the pressure in Montreal for goalies is WAAAAY too much for any young player to handle let alone flourish in. Unless your last name is Roy

Pretty hard to compare seasons in TriCities....the team got stronger last year and could support Price better. Look up patrick Roy's stats in the QMJL...they were not impressive either and we all know how he turned out. There is no doubt Price will be a superstar goalie...the question is...Is he ready now?

coachmowat...thats exactly what i am talking about. 'there is no doubt price will be a superstar' stuff is absolutely ridiculous to even predict for a what? 20 year old? make me a buddy on the site. if price becomes a superstar as you predict within the next 3 years, i will buy you a carry price jersey t-shirt and send it to you. i am good for it.

Gainey will bring Price along at a pace that is suitable for his development. Pressure is something that comes along with all players that have high expectations on them. Some had success such as Gretzky, Lemieux and currently Crosby, and some never met the expectations of the fans and media such as Yashin, Daigle and Lindros. But Dagley, to think that Price doesn't have a bigger upside than Vesa Toskala, had to be written by a Leaf fan and was quite funny. You are right that we don't know and heck Sidney Crosby could fall apart and Alex Steen could have a better career, but I doubt it.

Thank you Murdoch, you just wrote exactly what I'm feeling now. Today I got to a point to find myself totally sick, even pissed, about how much people are talking about Price with the Habs this year. Huet Halak is fine. Price=next year.
