Is Tom Renney the right man for the job?

I don't believe so. He may be a good coach and a great teacher but at some point the Oilers will need someone who gets the most out of his players. I don't believe Renney does. If you look at the Chicago Blackhawks, one of the pivotal moves that made that team champions was firing Denis Savard and bringing in Joel Quenville. The players loved Savard, but weren't playing to their potential with him at the helm. I believe the Oilers are in a similar situation but the bad news is I don't think the management will do anything about it. Look how long it took them to fire MacT.

I just don't think Renney knows how to manage his bench to its maximum potential. Look how much powerplay time Eric Belanger gets. Belanger should be a 3rd/4th line center only and maybe used for defensive own faceoffs and PK. Aside from that Lander has more offensive ability than Belanger. And why was Gagner on the first line when Hall was hurt. How many goals does he have?? 1 or 2 . Ryan Jones is a better option and would atleast bring some size and energy. Gagner may turn out to be a great player but not yet, and frankly I don't if it will be with the Oilers. They just have to many small forwards.

Let me know what you think ?
