You know what this is! Why give some long drawn out explanation with a thesis paragraph and other formulaic writing nonsense? (Not that I'm not guilty of using the odd trope here and there!). Cite me if I'm wrong and laugh in my face... go ahead, do it!

NOTES:
1. Some of the prices I put forth would be ridiculous in any other year, but because of the really strong crop among the first six or seven picks, a lot of teams are going to offer up more than they would. D like Hanifin and Provorov would go top 3 most other given years.
2. This ISN'T a mock draft. It's actually highly likely one of the first six picks gets moved/traded down, which would essentially turn mock drafts (unless they predict trades, which most don't) pretty much useless.
3. Making bold predictions at the end.

1. Edmonton.
Options:
1. Connor McDavid.
2. Connor McDavid.
3. Connor McDavid.

Smart choice: Connor McDavid (or loot someone dumb enough to trade you the farm for this magic bean ala Lindros).
Likely choice: Connor McDavid.

2. Buffalo.
Options:
1. Jack Eichel
2. Trade down to three-to-five, get a pretty good prospect in return (like Max Domi, Haydn Fleury, or Will Nylander) and draft Strome or Marner.

Smart choice: If teams are offering something like I listed above, definitely the trade-down (Eichel will be good, but his character is a little suspect).
Likely choice: Jack Eichel.

3. Arizona.
Options:
1. Dylan Strome
2. Mitch Marner
3. Trade down to New Jersey with (a prospect forward like Perlini or Letunov) for Merrill/Gelinas + 6th ovr + 2nd rd (41st).
4. Trade down to Philadelphia with (a prospect forward NOT Domi/Samuelsson) for 7th + a first next year + a third this year.
5. Trade down to Columbus for 8th ovr + Toronto + Anaheim's 2nd rd this year.
6. Trade down to Colorado with (one of Lessio, Perlini, Duclair, Dvorak) for O'Reilly and 10th ovr.
7. Trade up with Buffalo if they waver.
8. Trade OFF to Edmonton for Leon Draisaitl.

Smart choice: Dylan Strome unless Philly or Columbus offer something crazy.
Likely choice: Dylan Strome.

4. Toronto.
Options:
1. (If Strome available): Dylan Strome
2. (If Marner available): Mitch Marner
3. Ivan Provorov
IF HANIFIN AVAILABLE:
4. Trade down to Philadelphia for 7th ovr + a 1st next year + a 3rd this year.
5. Trade down to Columbus for 2 2nds + 8th ovr.
6. Trade down to Colorado with Kadri for O'Reilly + 10th.
7. Trade OFF to Edmonton for Leon Draisaitl.
IF MARNER AVAILABLE:
8. Trade down to New Jersey for Merrill and 6th.
IF STROME AVAILABLE:
9. Any of 4-8 + maybe a bit more (2nd/3rd this year or next).
OTHER:
10. Trade up with Buffalo if they waver.
11. Call around other teams trying to offer Phil Kessel for a top ten pick and more stuff and being hung up on and then defaulting to one of the first ten options.

Smart choice: Do one of the Hanifin available trade-downs.
Likely choice: Toss up between Strome, Marner, Hanifin, or (unlikely) Provorov.

5. Carolina:
Options:
1. Take what's left of Strome/Marner/Hanifin
2. Take Provorov, who's likely still available.
IF HANIFIN AVAILABLE:
4. Trade down with Philly (for 7th + 1st next year + Luke Schenn).
5. Trade down with Columbus. (for 2 2nds + 8th)
6. Trade down with Colorado. (for Bigras + 10th)
7. Trade OFF to Edmonton for Leon Draisaitl.
IF MARNER AVAILABLE:
8. Trade down with New Jersey for 2nd (41st) or Merrill + 6th.
OTHER:
9. Trade up with Buffalo if they waver.

Smart Choice: Trade down, depending on what's actually being offered... they could use more bodies in their system as they already have some high quality forwards moving forward.
Likely Choice: Take what's left of Strome/Marner/Hanifin.

6. New Jersey:
Options:
1. Take one of Marner (in the low likelihood he's available) or Zacha.
2. Trade up with a team ranging 3 - 5 depending on Marner's availability.
If Hanifin or Provorov available:
3. Take Hanifin (not a good option)
4. Trade down with Colorado with Merill/Gelinas for O'Reilly + 10th.
5. Trade down with Columbus for 8th + 2 2nds.
6. Call Philly's line... laugh... hang up. Do one of previous five.
7. If Hanifin's up: trade off the pick to Edmonton for Draisaitl.

Smart choice: Trying to get Marner.
Likely choice: Taking Zacha.

7. Philadelphia:
Options:
1. In order of priority if available: Provorov, Zacha, Crouse
2. Trade up with one of Arizona, Toronto, or Carolina to try to get Noah Hanifin or Dylan Strome (more likely Hanifin).
3. Do something only Philly would do.

Smart choice: Trying to get Hanifin.
Likely choice: Taking Provorov.

8. Columbus:
Options:
1. In order of priority if available: Provorov, Werenski.
2. Trading up (dangling 2nds) to try to get Hanifin or Provorov.
3. Trading down a few slots for an extra 2nd rounder and taking Werenski.

Smart choice: Trying to get Hanifin or Provorov.
Likely choice: A trade down for Werenski or drafting Werenski at 8.

9. San Jose:
1. Offering 1st rd pick next year to try to trade up to get Hanifin.
2. Taking in order of priority: Provorov, Zacha, Barzal, Crouse.
3. Trading down a few slots for an extra 2nd rounder and taking a default pick.

Smart choice: Number 2.
Likely choice: Number 2.

10. Colorado:
1. Trading up to try to get Hanifin.
2. Standing pat and taking in order of priority: Provorov, Crouse, Zacha, Werenski, Barzal.
3. Trading down a couple of slots (no more than 2) and taking a default pick.

Smart choice: Trying to get Hanifin (at a reasonable price), moving O'Reilly for a prospect and a trade up.
Likely choice: Crouse or Werenski.

Dark Horses: (teams that could do something big)
1. New York Islanders
2. Tampa Bay Lightning
3. Pittsburgh Penguins

BOLD PREDICTIONS: (I luuk into my creestal ball)
1. A trade down will occur between 3 and 5 and one of the teams trading up will draft Noah Hanifin.
2. Provorov goes top 6.
3. NJ somehow gets Mitch Marner.
4. Kessel will not get moved for a top 10 pick (well this isn't that bold).
5. Boston will get Lawson Crouse.

Edit: 1 for 5. I think Arizona and Carolina blew opportunities, and NJ paid the greatest price.

If I am NJ, I would take the AZ Opt "3. Trade down to New Jersey with (a prospect forward like Perlini or Letunov) for Merrill/Gelinas 6th ovr 2nd rd (41st)." in a heart beat. I would even trade
