Sabres in search for another win tonight versues the Rangers but didnt get exactly what they wanted although it was fisty hard fought game.

Things got off to a rough start for Kelly Sutherland who took a puck to the face

http://www.youtube.com/wa...amp;#038;feature=youtu.be

1st Period: Miller was clutch in goal stopping everything that came his and bailed out his teammates when turnovers came, most notiably the turnover in the first by Sekera who tried to clear it around the boards on a Sabres 5 on 3 in first it bounced out infront instead and Miller was alert and up to the task.

Miller snuffed out chances by Hagelin and Callahan.

The Sabres took their time out in the first period while on their 5 on 3 but despite generating 6 shots could not beat Lundquist.

2nd period: The Sabres had the jump in the 2nd using their speed to generate every opportunity possibly to gain the first goal of the game but Lundquist was equal to the task as the Rangers were force to take a time out after icing the puck.

3rd Period: Sabres had alot of jump in the 3rd period Gerbe getting a deflection, Boyes hitting the post and taking a sweet pass from Leino but couldnt deflect it past Lundquist.

Overtime: Sabres had :22seconds of PP time following a Del Zotto delay of game penalty and got some chances but not enough to put anything past Lundquist. Following a play for the puck Ennis came in and steamrolled Girardi on what was dubbed a boarding call which clearly wasnt as Ennis came in and Girardi turns as Ennis is about to hit him but Ennis does catch him on the side not from behind. The Sabres were able to kill off the 2minutes of flurry by the Rangers, Miller and the defense stood firm, stood tall, and stood united. Into the last 20 seconds or so of overtime Sekera found Roy all alone across ice and Roy ends up putitng the puck to the side of the open cage.

Shootout:

Gerbe-Missed
Gaborik-Double Posted and it found the back of the net
Boyes-Missed
Mitchell-Missed
Pominville- Puts the Shootout population up and tied the shootout
Richards-Missed
Ennis-Missed (hit post)
Stepan-Missed
Leino-Missed
Callahan- Calmly snipes home the winner

Story of the game: Defence and Goaltending

Vanek missed the game with an upper body injury
Stafford missed it with the flu
Gragani was a scratch

Sabres were at leats able to salvage a point and jump across two teams in the standings but the bad thing is the Leafs defeated the Penguins 1-0 on a goal by EX Sabre Macarthur putting the Sabres again 9 points out of the 8th and final spot which is now held by the New Jersey Devils (57 points) Standings now look like this:

8) New Jeresy 57

9) Florida 55

10) Winnipeg 52

11)Tampa Bay 48

12 Buffalo 48

31 games to go 9 points out, 26 days till D-Day

Can the Sabres pull it off?

Lets Go Buffalo!
