"Sabres Win Cup!"

There are 8 playoff series going on right now, 7 of which are absolutely nasty. Bone-jarring hits, constant scrums, facewashes, blood, concussions, headhunting (allegedly), elbows… you name it, we’ve seen it. EXCEPT in the Sabres/Islanders series. Granted, we did get some physical play last night but this series nothing like the others.

As I see it, the Sabres have only TWO players playing “playoff hockey” right now. Adam Mair, who had the quintessential playoff shift as he blasted Hunter in the defensive zone then proceeded to hustle down to the offensive zone and scored from the doorstep. And Dainus Zubrus, who has been throwing his body around like a mad man and making “the little” plays all over the ice.

If the Sabres didn’t trade for Zubrus, and started Paille in favor of Mair, they might be trailing in this series right now.

I’m pretty confident that the Sabres have plenty enough to make it past the Islanders, BUT, do they have the sandpaper to make the whole way? I’m feeling like playoff hockey is made for the “mairsy’s” of the hockey world. Lets hope the goose gets back soon!

We'll get the Goose back, and if we have to we'll bring up Kaleta again. Man that kid can hit!

Adam Mair put together a complete game last night. I don't think Game 1 you could say that, but certainly he's been turning it on lately. Great to see him get rewarded for his physical play with a goal, AND with Lindy double-shifting him and Kotalik and Connolly to set up that eventual goal. Lindy seems to always know when his guys are playing well and ready for a double shift.

I agree with you 100%. You don't need size or muscle to play playoff hockey... it's all about heart and hustle. Hopefully the rest of our guys wake up and realize what it's going to take to win, this lazy crap isn't going to cut it.

I think most, if not all, of the roster can compete with the heart and physicality playoff hockey demands. But I agree that Mair and Zubie have been 2 of our best, especially in Game 3.
