---------------------------------------------------
Okay so I have not blogged in a few days and I thought that it would be fun to blog today about something people could debate and argue for days.

First I want to start with players under the age of 23. If you were the GM of the Flyers and could have ANY PLAYER UNDER 23 YEARS OLD, without having to give anything up, who would you take? (Im excluding Steven Stamkos because obviously everyone would choose him)

FORWARD- Jordan Eberle/EDM

Jordan Eberle has been a player I have watched alot over the past few years. He was drafted by Edmonton 22nd overall in 2008. He played a very important role in Juniors for both the Canadian Junior team and the Regina Pats of the WHL. His last year with the Pats, he tallied 50 goals 56 assists for 106 points in 57 games. Real impressive stuff. He had a decent rookie year with 43 points in 69 games but was always in the shadow of the spotlight of teammate Taylor Hall and Boston's Tyler Seguin. In all honesty, can you think of a prettier 1st NHL goal than the shorty Eberle put up? oooooooo doggggggieeeeee. This past year in the 11-12 season, Eberle really broke out in his 78 games scoring 34 goals 42 assists for 76 points. He is a player that I think will be a HUGE asset to the future of the Oilers, most likely more than Hall and RNH. He is a pure goal scorer who has an amazing set of hands who I think will hit 50 goals in his career. Maybe even more than once. He is the forward under 23 I would instantly grab for the Flyers.

DEFENSEMEN- Victor Hedman/TB

I love the game of Victor Hedman. He is a big body at 6 feet 6 inches 230 lbs. He doesnt move as slowly as you think he would and he can really use his size to his advantage. He can BLAST from the point, he'll drop the gloves when needed and he has no trouble springing a player for the break. Statistically, he's not the best, with his best year in the 10-11 season putting up 26 points in 79 games, but he is easily the defensemen under the age of 23 that I would love to have on the FlyGuys.

GOALTENDER- Sergei Bobrovsky/CBJ

There really isn't much out there that could start at the age or under 23. Yes, Bobrovsky was a Flyer and now a Blue Jacket, but he is still my choice for the goalie under 23. While I understand the move by the Flyers to trade him, I still think he is a very solid, young goaltender who will succeed out with Columbus. Not like he could or would have with the Flyers, but he will.

Now into the section where we can debate which player over the age of 23 we would snag with no cost to use. This is a much broader topic and there will be many various opinions, and these are mine. Not based just on stats, but their attitude, the way they play the game, and their role on the team. (Defensemen does not include Shea Weber because obviously that would almost be ironic to pick him so he can stay put)

FORWARD- Zach Parise/MIN

I know this may be something very different from what you picked, but Parise is an all around great player. He's quick, he shoots hard and accurate, he hits hard, he has the drive of a Rottweiler in heat, and his passion and leadership in undeniable. I've always been a fan of Parise dating back to the days when he used to rock that god awful ugly CCM helmet. I know the Flyers made a push for both him and Suter this year in Free Agency, but I never got my hopes up, Parise was going home and Suter was going to follow. That doesnt change the fact that Claude Giroux and Zach Parise would be white on rice, the boo the the bie, and the bread to the butter.

DEFENSEMEN- Zdeno Chara/BOS

It kinda hurts deep down to have to pick him, but if Im excluding Weber, no matter how much I curse his name during the season, any sane person would pick 6 foot 9, 255 lb Zdeno Chara. He shoots the puck over 108 mph, he's the biggest player to ever play in the NHL, he can still pass pretty well and just the overall intimidation factor. When you see anyone go after Chara, or try to throw the big hit, its something to take notice of. Chara is easily the smartest move if I could snag any defensemen. Its a plus because then we wouldnt have to face him.

GOALTENDER- Henrik Lundqvist/NYR

It was tough between him and Miller, but Miller had a slump of a year and Lundqvist had one hell of a year. Theres no denying what Henrik can do in between the pipes. Could you imagine our 09 or even this past years run with him in net? Not only would we have him, but we would take him away from a division rival.

Pretty sure something went wrong with the last post, so I'll repost in condensed form.U23: Evander Kane, Pietrangelo (OEL close 2nd), and Markstrom.Anyone: Giroux (mainly due to his glorious contract), Pietrangelo, and Price.Taking away positions and going off exactly what the title says, choosing only 1 player, it's Pietrangelo.

I think Chara is a bit older than 23, but maybe I misread something.
