Matthew Barry has made an excellent point in his blog on Bernier to Toronto for Frattin and a 3rd rounder (http://www.hockeybuzz.com...3rd-for-Bernier/125/45651)

Barry's quote -
Yeah, Bernier's been moaning like a kid whose parents won't take him to Legoland but he's under contract and as Sam Spade once said, "When your slapped, you'll take it and like it."

What do the Kings have backing up Quick? Really a 1st round pick goes for a 4th rounder in Frattin and a 3rd?

I don't even believe that Lombardi is this desperate to move Bernier, even if Bernier is "more holy than the pope" at times as suggested by a fan at Staples this last season. Dean built this team with smart moves, minus Purcell to Tampa, ouch! Probably don't have to trade for Carter at the deadline if they have Purcell, but then again probably don't get Carter's no look Game 2 winner in the Finals this year either!

Also let us not forget, Burke's gang was in on spreading the word in the press on the Kings trading Brown at the deadline in February this last year. They are good at salting up clear waters.

So maybe we should start talking Gardnier or Kulemin for Bernier and a 4th or 5th....if not let Bernier suck it up, life isn't that hard between the pipes collecting 7 figures. The Kings need value or to keep a solid young backup.

Yeah keeping a player who asks to be traded is always a good thing. You can't say Frattan is a 4th rounder etc as its how he developed not where a player has been drafted. 10goals and 13 pts in 13 games in last yrs playoffs is not too shabby. My guess is the leafs are willing to give up a player but not Fratton which is whats holding up the trade.

Hmmm, maybe I need to examine Frattan a bit more! Good pts.
