I’m not Darryl Sutter, though, so I’m just having fun and you can read and comment all you like. Sure, most are wishful thinking and maybe even a bit far-fetched, but have fun anyway.

1) Trade Matthew Lombardi, Anders Eriksson, Andrej Taratukhin, and 2009 #2 Draft Pick to Florida for Olli Jokinen: Flames get the #1 Center they’ve been wanting for years. He’s got size, speed, skill, and (with the right line mates) has a fantastic scoring touch.

2) Trade Cory Sarich, Wayne Primeau, Mark Giordano, and 2008 #1 Draft Pick to Toronto to Tomas Kaberle & Chad Kilger: Certainly a bit far-fetched but it shakes up both rosters bit and gives some struggling players new scenery. Kaberle is a puck-moving defenseman & power-play specialist Calgary needs (beyond Phaneuf).

3) Re-sign Daymond Langkow: Langkow has proven himself worthy of a raise and resigning with the Flames. 3 years for $10/mill ($3.33/yr).

4) Re-sign Craig Conroy: Conroy has lost some of his offensive ability, yes, but I believe him to be a great defensive asset as well (and is a great Flames leader). I don’t think he’s quite worthy of a raise (considering his age), but I would resign him for 2 years for $3.7/mil ($1.85/yr).

5) Resign Stephane Yelle: 1 more year @ $1/mil

6) Resign Owen Nolan: 1 more year @ $1.5/mil

7) Trade Kristian Huselius, Rhett Warrener, Brent Krahn, and 2009 #3 Pick to Buffalo for Jason Pomminville & Nathan Paetsch: I believe there to be one team in particular who would love to have Warrener on their squad and that’s Buffalo. Not only would Warrener bolster the D-core, but Huselius would blend well into Buffalo’s fast-paced offensive game. Pomminville fills the gap left by streaky Huselius while Paetsch adds some young skill to our defense.

8) Put Marcus Nilson on waivers: If he’s not picked up, send him down to Quad City.

9) Extend Curtis Joseph one more year: as our goalie prospects develop in the farm system, Joseph remains Kipper’s steady back-up/insurance policy.

10) Give “A” (assistant captain) to Craig Conroy: a known leader and dressingroom inspiration, while keeping Iginla as “C” and Regehr as “A”. Nolan would be the alternate “A”

I'm sorry but I really fail to see the value in Wayne Primeau and Cory Sarich... the Leafs are hoping to get RID of overpayed pylons, not gain them with Cory Sarich... I'm not bashing so much as pointing out that 28 other hockey teams would give up more for Kaberle and Kilger than their fourth line centre, their sixth defenseman, and a guy with 5-6 potential (hockeysfuture.com)... yes 1st round picks are important, but still... Calgary's will be 20-25th overall... surely Kaberle is worth more...

alright... seriously, I was looking back at this... Sarich: 4yrs, 3.53m, Primeau:2yrs, 1.4m... Kaberle: 3yrs, 4.25, Kilger: 1yr, 0.7mtotals: Toronto receiving 4.93m, Calgary receiving 4.95mhow does it make sense for the leafs to give up their best defenceman for a guy signed longer who is considerably less talented? seriously man... most of your points make reasonable sense... I even think that the Buffalo trade is completely out of left field and makes sense... but you're not going to rob the Leafs like that... (well, I'd like to believe you wouldn't)
