Well, this is my first blog and may be my last blog. I am only writing a blog because I feel that this is the Offseason that will change the course of what the Oilers will become if what I say happens.

The major holes to fill:
Goaltending
Top 2 Defender

Players/Picks on my trade Block:
Nikitin, Eberle, Marincin, 16th, 33rd, Scrivens, 2016 First, 2016 Second, 2018 3rd

Lets get started and remember, if you want to criticize, I prefer constructive criticizm.

Goaltending:
Acquire Elliott and Jaybo for 16th + Scrivens + Marincin + Nikitin + 2016 Second + Conditional 2018 3rd (Condition is that we make the playoffs this year)

Lets look at both sides of the deal:
Edmonton acquires a Top 2 Defender and a proven, consistent starter that can backstop the Oilers.
St. Louis acquires a cheap, yet good Top 6 defender (3rd pairing) in Marincin; it also allows cap relief for STL and it provides Allen with that confidence that he is being trusted as the #1 starter, unlike last season (Brodeur, Allen, and Elliot); they also get some valuable picks at their disposal.
The only way I see this working is all dependent on what is available at the 16th pick.

Sign Niemi to a 2-3 year 3.5 mill contract
Edmonton acquires a proven starter that can split the games 50/50 with Elliott; this way, if one goalies steps it up and the other doesn't it can provide us with good options, unlike the last few seasons.
It also allows us to enter the season with confidence in our goaltending, and adding in Jaybo definitely helps.

Top 2 Defender
Refer back to the Jaybo trade.
He can guide our young Blue Chip defenders (Nurse and Klefbom) and he can form a great pairing with Klefbom as our top pairing. (HE HAS EXPERIENCE)

Eberle + 2016 First + 33rd pick for Buff (If he agrees to an Extension) + Morrissey
This trade might be the most hardest to make, but like Chia said, sometimes the right moves are the hard moves.
Edmonton acquires a Top 2 defender and a great Top 4 defender (Potential wise) that could turn out to be a Top 2 defender (In a few years).
Winnipeg acquires a Top end right wing talent that can greatly help them offensively (Where they need help, especially with Kane gone). Defensively, they still have Myers, Enstrom and Trouba; all of which are or can be Top 2-4 defenders; they also gain valuable picks at their disposal.

In the end, the Oilers defensive aspect going into next season would look a little like this:

Jaybo - Klefbom
Nurse - Buff
Fayne - Schultz (Assuming he is resigned)
Ference

Elliott
Niemi

Cap wise, it would work and Buff would have to waive his NMC.

Some will say that trading Eberle will leave a gap in our Right wing; I think not because wingers are much easier to acquire than Defenders, Centres, or Goalies; keep that in mind, and depth players can sometimes make unexpected jumps; Arcobello was at one point our Top 6 Centre.

Thanks for reading, and remember keep it to a Constructive minimum.

Eberle, Hall, RNH and McDavid are going to be your Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa. Chiarrelli would be dumb to move any of them. If anything move Yakz out of there.

those have got to be the worst proposals. Anyways, Eberle goes nowhere unless a number 1 D comes back.
