Why oh why???

From TSN.ca

No. 3 - Philadelphia prospect James van Riemsdyk. The University of New Hampshire forward, picked second in 2007, has been linked to Atlanta in a deal that would see a goalie going to the Flyers.

No. 2 - Thrashers goalie Kari Lehtonen is of interest to the Flyers. If Atlanta GM Don Waddell continues to rebuild, swapping Lehtonen for a prospect such as Van Riemsdyk would have to be seriously considered.

With the performance of Lehtonen against the Flyers in his history, why would the Flyers be interested at all???I can see this type of trade for other goalies or defensemen, but not Lehtonen!!!!

well .. lehtonen wasn't taken 2nd overall for no reason, and look at the team hes played on for all these years .. i think he has very high potential if he has a good team in front of him, which the flyes do

This can't happen! Flyers know better than to give up on a blue chip prospect like JVR. You have to give him a chance on your club. He might turn out to be a star player! Giroux is really coming around now, so I would not move him either. Players that I believe are expendable are - Kukkonen(obviously), Vaananen, Jones(overpaid. may not be market), Metropolit(playing a lot better lately), Lupul(career underachiever), and Carle.

carle ? yea rite he is so good u obviously dont watch the games, i would be so mad if they traded him .. lupul is good, jones is over paid, metropolit is garbage, and stevens is an idiot. he is doing the same thing to vaananen as he did in the playoffs last year playing JAROSLAV MODRY instead of kukkonen. he doesnt like vaananen, so he plays fucing andrew alberts? i like alberts but vaananen is good.

Lehtonen is an over-rated bum! Alexander Daigle was a #1 overall pick. Pat Falloon was a #2 overall pick. Position taken in the draft means little! Also this is the same franchise that traded Braydon Coburn for Alex Zhitnik straight up! As for Vaananen, I like him too, but I like Parent alot more. Jones is a quality defenseman and is solid as a 3rd pair guy. I like Alberts. He plays big for a #6 guy. Vaananen can step in at any time and play on any pair which makes him a good #7 guy. With the comments about JVR recently, it would not surprise me to see him packaged at the deadline if Homer decides to make a splash.

NO F'N WAY!! The Flyers always lose in deals where they give up prospects Iwhich has happened often in the past). JVR for Lehtonen makes no sense..not when there are stud UFA available (Backstrom, Fernandez, Khababulin)...The Flyers shluld heavily pursue one of these three. If via trade, the only players to part with are Jones, Lupul, Alberts, Vaanonen, or Metro....Giroux will be on this team for a loooong time...He is a forty goal scorer waiting to explode. The Flyers need goaltending, but NOT Lehtonen, and not the cost of thier top future prospect...

Flyers96 I have watched every game this year! Flyers traded Downie and Eminger to get Carle from TB and Eminger's stats are every bit as good as Carle's if not better! He has 7 more points. He is a good defenseman but not that good. Therefor he is expendable. You obviously don't watch the games!

cable2k .. eminger is probably the best defensemen on that team since they are so awful and gets a lot more ice time than he wud of one philly .. so u dont kno what ur tlkin abou carle was a steal
