Trade Hemsky

Posted 3:23 AM ET | Comments 9
Since Hemsky is going to be traded and we all know it, I think they should get rid of him and gagner before the deadline. I know the Colorado avalanche and ryan o'rielly want to be done with each other and he is a defensive centre who can also score, I say trade Hemsky to Colorado for him but that's not near enough so add either Fedun or Larsen and I think it would be fine. I would trade gagner to NYI along with a first round pick and maybe some other prospect for Travis Hamonic. These trades fix 2 obvious problems, a better 2nd line centre and top pairing dman.
TRADES
To Colorado.
Hemsky.
Fedun.
To Edmonton
O'Rielly
To NYI
Gagner
1st Round Pick
Prospect
To Edmonton
Hamonic

Tell me if these would work or if I'm going insane and really wishful!

So Hamonic is worth Gagner, A Prospect and Ekblad/Reinhart?

wow. ROR will fetch more than a UFA and a b level prospect. and Ilses dont need centers with tavares, strome, nelson, neilson, etc. the first to replace their lost first... but they need hamonic too. your best bet is trying to pry mcdonald away if they cant sign him and wow him with a monster contract and hope he lives up to it.

Why trade Hemsky? As you can see above, there is little market value for him. He is playing some of the best hockey of his career right now. We have a great chance at signing him at a decent price. He has the ability to provide offense with acrobello on our third line, plus he can jump into our top 6 at any time when needed. It also allows us to shop Gagner and move Hall to Center if we want to have another go at that. Hemsky is worth way more to the team than we will ever get and we can afford to keep him. He has been playing great two way hockey and has been one of our most consistent players despite Eakins lack of use for him.

I would definatley like to see Gags go before Hemsky.....provided Hemsky will resign here.

Tend to agree there with there being little market for Hemsky, though as a depth and insurance type player at this point the Oilers likely wait till trade deadline to get what they can for him. I think at this point that is the best the Oilers can hope for to increase the return. Most of the rest of those trades I dont think happen at all either there. Oiler fans are not going to like it but I think it is going to be ride out the season and then make a few minor deals before trying to make deals at the draft and signing UFA to build things up.
