There is no physical wall between the East and West but there is an invisible one. The Hockey World revolves mostly around the East and no one in the east knows a lot about the Players in the West. The West gets it the best they get games from the east early then the western games at 7pm.

The east fans do not get how good the west young players are such as Getzlaf, Perry, Kopitar, Brown. This may be because east has the 4 best young players in Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin. Really The West players are great players. The East and west play different Kind of games. In the "Old" NHL the East was the hard hitting conference the west was the fast speedy road runners. Now in the "New" NHL the east is speedier but still has some of the toughness while the west now is more hard hitting. With the names of Crosby and A.O. in the east they got faster while with names of Phaneuf and Weber in the west they got rougher.

Yes the Western conference won the Stanley Cup but really geographically they did not. They are really in the East time zone. One thing of the NHL I feel sorry for them playing all those west coast games. Really they should be put into the Eastern Conference but this will give problems to the divisions. To bring the Wings to the East would need to add two Western teams..... maybe in Kansas and Winnipeg.

Ways to fix this would be to fix the Schedule which the NHL tried to do but I would improve it by making east play west twice one home and one away. Let The Sports channels like TSN show more western games. Now TSN decided to always show a Canadian team which i do not like, I liked seeing two American teams go at it.

The NHL should be more western friendly there is 15 teams there give them 1/2 of the spotlight. Can be very easily done and should be.
