Special teams

Last night, we were 0-6 or 0-7 on the Power Play.

In this new NHL, that I will refer to as zero contact figure skating, special teams are key. Look at Philly and Montreal, their PP wins them games.

The Rangers have had so much trouble scoring 5 on 5, so we cannot really rely on goals from that, but the man advantage (and in cases of the 2 man advantage), so you know what? Fix the PP. It's that simple!

The Rangers' power play consists of pass, pass, pass, pass, fake shot, fake shot, pass, out of the zone, cycle, back in the zone, pass, pass, pass, pass to the slot, shot wide, repeat.

Imagine having a 25% efficient power play.. I'm sure we'd had a few more wins!

I will keep my hopes up because the PP has been looking somewhat better lately.. there's nothing more effective than drawing a penalty (and in doing so frustrating the team that got caught), and then scoring.

But how do we improve the PP? I say 'we' because I'm paying good money for this rise in blood pressure!

Let Mara and Tyutin fire from the point!.. and heck let Rozsival do the same.. he has 11 goals this year.. heck, even Girardi has like 7 or 8..

Jagr is always at the right circle, and Shanny always sets up in the slot, so teams can easily kill any penalty against us... but how about, I dunno, if we park in front of the net (Drury, I'm looking in your direction)..

And stop with the wide shots.. you've all played the game for years and years and years, and you can't hit the giant red box.. ridiculous!

Just get it on net, get the rebound.. it's not hard! You have an extra man out there for crying out loud!

Pass, pass, shoot, rebound, score should give you at least a 20% success rate.. it's not hard!.. take some chances!

Look man I have a very good friend of mine who bleeds NYC blue. OF course I had to rag on him for the glorious victory last night (in MSG), but I even I know that NYR has way too much talent to fall out of the playoff race. I mean we're not talking about the Leafs here, we're talking about Roszival, Drury, Gomez, Prucha, Shannahan, Lundqvist, and Jagr to a lesser extent. The point is hockey is a game played by streaks. Look at the Flyers for example. Lose 6 in a row, and now win 6 of 7 (including 6-2 win in MSG last night). Not to mention Renney is a tough coach with high expectations of high priced talent. The Rangers will go back to their winning ways again. All it takes is one win against an easy team (like the home-at-home with Boston next week) and they will be right on their game again. Too bad the Flyers are now almost entirely healthy, and will either win the division or come second to the mighty Devils.

When was the last time Paul Mara actually hit the net when he shot? He fires away, he just hits the boards everytime.

The best way to improve the Rangers would be to get rid of Jagr! They won't win anything with him on the team.

"The best way to improve the Rangers would be to get rid of Jagr! They won't win anything with him on the team"Like the Yankees with A-Rod... I totally agree with you. WIth him out of the lineup they will not look to force feed him the puck when they are on the ice..
