Bit about me. Big hockey fan. Love to talk and write about it. I'm no insider I just like watching it and discussing it.

Here are some random observations:

-Mike Cammalleri has 23 goals in 49 games this year. On pace for 30 goals at the very least. One has to wonder what he would do on a team that puts up more goals than Jersey.

-The Pelley for Sekac trade will get its first judgement on it as Pelley is set to debut with the Habs against Columbus. Sekac played his first game yesterday and was part of a losing effort against Ottawa. He finished with 14:35 of ice time, -1 and a shot on net.

-Speaking of Ottawa, 3rd string goalie Andrew Hammond picked up his first shutout and 3rd win of the season. He at the moment has a sparkling 3-0-0 record, .948% and 1.50 GAA. If Ottawa is to attempt the playoffs they will need more of the same.

-Philly and Toronto are a go tonight. Phaneuf is expected to make his return. Toronto needs to continue its nosedive if it is going to crack the top five pick. The presence of the captain may or may not halt it but the new looking Leafs will definitely be interesting to watch in the coming days.

-Sophomore Slump? Not for Sean. Sean Monahan is continuing his growth as an NHL player as he pushes Calgary towards its first playoff spot in years. 21 goals and 42 points in 61 games have him one short of his rookie goal total in 14 less games already. If Calgary makes the playoffs much will have to do with the play of this young centre.

-Speaking of young developing players; Joe Colborne a former Toronto player who never seemed to cut it has slowly been finding his groove in Calgary. Though only posting a modest 23 points in 43 games, he is a +10 for the season and is getting better every time on the ice. He too will be counted on to provide the depth needed for the Flames play off push.

-Trade deadline is coming up in the following week and the dominoes are already beginning to fall. Look for decisions by border line sellers in Ottawa and Jersey to help set the market.

Names to look at as suggested by various pundits throughout the web and league are:

Vermette out of Phoenix
Wisnewski out of Columbus
Lupul out of Toronto
Every Sabre of note minus their few untouchables
Jordin Tootoo out of New Jersey
J. Jagr out of Jersey

and many more as the days wear on. Check in with your hockey insiders for proper info on the rumours and names out there.

All for now,

Thanks for reading.

The hockey addict.

Hopefully the Sabres get a nice haul for Stewart etc. He was terrific against Vancouver!

Yeah I saw that last night. I would have thought he would have gone to Winnipeg for like a 2nd, but with tlustly there I doubt that now. He will fetch a second I would think regardless now.

Sabres and Bruins would seem to be a match with Subban coming Sabres solving the goaltender issue.

Yeah with Rask there he will never get the starts he needs to develop. Stewart plays bruin style hockey and would fit.

This is true. Sort of ruining the tank nation there lol. He will bring in more picks or prospects for them if they move him. Have to say, impressed by Murray in his efforts to rebuild.

The Leafs need to do what the Sabres are trying to do.
