It seems almost ridiculous to even ask why a 45 year old player is unsigned, but I'll ask it. Why is Jaromir Jagr unsigned?

Lets state the obvious. He is without a doubt old. He'll be 45 to start the season. He isn't the quickest player on the ice. He never has been. He won't be winning foot races that often for you.

But he's smart. His hockey IQ is through the roofs. He knows where he has to go on the ice and makes up for his lack of speed with superior positioning. He can still battle down in the boards. He's strong on the puck and is still in fantastic shape. His hands are there. He had a quality season on an injury ravaged team to show the league that.

He is durable. That's huge. He played all 82 games and finished the season with a stat line of: 16 G 30 A 46PTS +2.

It's fair to assume if you're a contender he won't be on your top line but he can still add quality depth on the wings. He comes as well with secondary powerplay potential.

So why doesn't he have a team? Is there not one team who will take a chance on him? No one out there can benefit from a 45 year old Jagr that has shown he can still play? Is it simply a case of getting closer to the season to extend him an offer?

My only other thought as for a reason why he doesn't have a team is perhaps "personality and presence" might make him a difficult add. I personally have never read anything about Jagr being difficult but I could see the possibility of him being a player set in his ways.

What do you all think, why does Jagr not have a team?

He's a douche and wants too much money.

From what I understood it wasn't about money. A tsn article just came out yesterday or the day prior speaking about how he wants to play on a contender with less depth on the wings. If it isn't money, maybe he's just douchey.

So what contending team needs a top 6 winger that can't skate with his center?
