Pyatt getting close

Posted 2:31 AM ET | Comments 4
It appears the minor stand-off between the Canucks and soon to be unrestricted free agent Taylor Pyatt may actually be coming to an end. In a good way for both sides.

TSN.ca is reporting that the Canucks who offered $1.2 million per have loosend their stance a litte, meanwhile Pyatt has also come back the other way from his previous demand of about $1.5 - 1.6 million.

Pyatt had career numbers last season while spending most of the season on the top line with the Sedin twins Daniel and Henrik. During the Canucks post-season run Pyatt appeared non-existent at times and will be expected to increase his roll as he continues to progress as a legitimate NHLer.

It also appears that unlike Anson Carter of the 2005-2006 Sedin benefactor fame, Taylor Pyatt is in full understanding that the Sedins made him successful as much as he added a dynamic to their game. Pyatt will get his due, he succeded last season while playing top line minutes and not having huge expectations. Let's take a little pay raise and see if we can enjoy some continued success.

Wow.. Taylor Pyatt (affectionately known at "Taylor Quiet" in Buffalo) appeared non-existent in the playoffs? I would have never believed it! (that was sarcasm)

I think Pyatt proved he can play well when paired with skilled players. I don't think he is a great player by any means, but he was often put on lines with Adam Mair and Andrew Peters in Buffalo...very little ice time. Good for you Taylor!

6pts in 12 games he was third in playoff scoring behind linden and ohlund (7pts)....if you're gonna call him non-existent than you can call the whole team that too....

Stumpy where was the offense? I expected big things from Pyatt when the tough got going against the Ducks and he flat out disappeared along with the rest of his mates. He only managed one assist in the five games against the Ducks.
