It wasn't the start John Tavares and the Isles wanted. Many fans may argue the reasoning behind this is three homegrown players, Kyle Okposo, Matt Martin and Frans Nielsen have journeyed to different locations to continue their career. The loss of the three hurt the fan base but the signing of Andrew Ladd summoned the loss, well at least for the summer, as Ladd and Chimera have been brutal for the Isles. John Tavares has played "Wing roulette" going through a ton of wingers in his 7 year tenure in the Blue and Orange. Snow and head coach, Jack Capuano felt that Andrew Ladd may be that answer on the wing. After 10+ games without a goal, the carousel keeps moving giving each Islander a shot next to Johnny, including fourth line RW Cal Clutterbuck, whose had success in the OHL with Tavares. But again, as usual, no success for Tavares' wingers. Knowing this, Snow has blown up the phones of the GMs in the league frantically searching for an answer on offense. A rumor that's been spreading over social media is Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, who missed practice and did not play on November 17. Turns out, he's been "banged up" and needed a rest. The Isles faithful went from jumping up and down to back the norm of walking with their heads down. On July 2nd, Snow brought back PA Parenteau who had success with Tavares. Before they played one regular season game, Snow placed him on waivers. And then, right then and there, the so call first line Ladd-Tavares-Parenteau went to Ladd-Tavares-?, leaving the fans without an answer until opening night at the garden by putting Jason Chimera on line one. Yes, you heard that right, 37 year-old Jason Chimera. As expected the line was broken up not even 15 games in the season. And the question that remains unanswered continues, who is the winger Tavares needs to get going? Good question, no one knows. They tried for Kucherov in the summer, no good. Whatever the answer is for the Isles better be coming or the fans will go berzerk, no joke. This fansbase deserves better. The Isles faithful may be disappointed about the slow start but the surprising successful start for the Rangers have made the situation even worse. But remember Isles' fans, this team does the impossible by blowing leads with 14 seconds left, blowing three goal leads in 20 minutes, so anything can happen. What the Isles should do is give rookie Anthony Beauvillier a shot at the top instead of 11 minutes in a drubbling 6-1 loss to Tampa Bay on November 1st. He's been unreal in the QMHL so he should get minutes. The future is bright, Isles fans. The funny thing is, Tavares has had good wingers in his career but Capuano breaks them up. Matt Moulson, a fan favorite, was traded after the previous season he netted 39 goals. Yes, 39! And they trade him. The trade did work out---for six months as they got Thomas Vanek who was a free agent after the 2013-2014 season. As the saying always goes "The future is bright Isles fans" it gets really really old after years of a constant rebeuild. The time is now.
