"New York Isles"
United States •
The Islanders surrendered yet another loss, but this time they register a point. It was a very poor first period for the Isles trailing 1-0 after the opening frame. It was a strong second period for the Isles as Brock Nelson tallied his fifth of the year on the Powerplay. Just two minutes later, Anthony Beauvillier, picked pocketed a Pens defenseman, and undressed Matt Murray to give the Isles a 2-1 lead. The lead didn't last long as Trevor Daley flew off the bench and scored the game timer. They enter the third and final period tied 2-2. It was a back and forth opening minutes for both Isles and Penguins. As the Penguins nearly took back the lead just 30 seconds in the third as Carl Hagelin just missed the yawning cage. The Penguins came out flying, Yes, the Penguins are the only birds that can't fly, but they were streaking. Jack Capuano stated that the Islanders need to be disciplined and not take penalties against powerful teams. They obviously toned him out as they took 3 03!-penalties but the PK was solid only surrendering one goal. Overtime, arrived, and the struggling Isles knew it wasn't looking good. Picture this nightmare: Crosby-Malkin-Letang. Probably the most lethal OT combination in the NHL. Just 1:46 in Crosby had an unreal fake shot-pass and Letang banged it home to seal it. The Isles struggles continue and it's only gonna get harder with the western conference road trip approaching.
