The Islanders have played majority of their games at home to start the year, and based off their record from last year at home, it was kind of a disappointment to start this year at home. Now after only registering 1 point on the road this year, in a heartbreaking OT loss to the Florida Panthers, they try to defeat teams who they had success against in the past. They open their trip versus the Anaheim Ducks on November 22 and then they travel to Los Angeles to play the Kings, Thanksgiving Eve on November 23. The Isles faced off against the Ducks once this year. October 16, the Isles home opener. Josh Bailey scored a highlight reel goal just one minute into Overtime to win it.

Jaroslav Halak has played eight straight starts, he has decent numbers in that span, but his team has not won since November 7. As a matter of fact, the Islanders have only beaten one team that is in playoff contention right now, the Ducks, whom they open their road trip with. They only hope they can get some momentum and start winning key games.

Besides the road trip, Andrew Ladd only has 2 goals and 1 assist in 17 games with the Islanders. If the Isles were winning and he's not scoring, they shouldn't be that worried. But, since he's not clicking twine and they can't string together some wins, it just makes the situation a lot worse. Their upcoming schedule has some games on it that may result in a season changing trip. Ducks, Kings, Sharks (road) and the Flames (at home) have a total of 8 points out of all 4 games. That could possibly make or break the Isles' season.

The team that might give the Isles trouble with is the San Jose Sharks, who beat the Isles at home earlier this year. You ask why it will give them trouble? They lost to Sharks backup goalie, Aaron Dell, who got his first NHL win versus the Isles. Dell only made one previous start since then. In fact, there were two milestones in that game. Aaron Dell getting his first NHL win and Anthony Beauvillier (New York) getting his first goal in the NHL.

All we can hope for is a major road trip maybe getting a possible 5 out of 6 on the road and then beating the Flames at home. As mentioned in previous blogs, the Islanders can do the impossible. 8 out of 8 points is a lot to ask for, but it is possible to do.
