Montreal Beats the Unbeatable

Montreal. Sunday, November 16, 2008. The Montreal Juniors played their best game of the season thus far, handing the undefeated Moncton Wildcats their first regulation loss of the season, 3-2. Despite allowing 2 goals in the 3rd period, the Juniors outshot and outscored a potent Moncton offense 37-25.

Guillaume Asselin led the way for the Juniors, scoring the game winning goal, his 8th of the year, and assisted on another while Jake Allen turned away 23 shots for the win. Late goals by Lessard and Brannon for the Wildcats brought them within striking distance, but after giving up a lead to Gatineau the night before, the Juniors were able to continue their strong play, hanging on for the 3-2 win.

The Juniors get a much deserved rest after having played 3 games in 3 nights, earning 4 out of a possible 6 points, returning to action on Friday night to welcome Patrick Roy and his Quebec Remparts to the Verdun Auditorium at 730pm.

Word is that Lewiston is going to be relocated to Fredericton next season.. it'd be great to get a Q team here. It'd be 4 teams in New Brunswick
