Montreal Rebounds 4-1 over Tigres

Montreal. Sunday, December 28, 2008. The Montreal Juniors rebounded from a 5-1 loss to the Shawinigan Cataractes Saturday, beating the Victoriaville Tigres 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Barely 24 hours after suffering defeat to Shawinigan, the Juniors got back into the win column thanks to a breakout performance from Matthew Brenton. Brenton put together his first career hat-trick, scoring 3 straight goals including the game winner.

Victoriaville opened the scoring with a goal from Travis McIsaac, putting his 7th goal of the year past Jake Allen only 5 minutes into the 1st period, but it was the Juniors who would carry the momentum, scoring 4 straight unanswered goals.

Nick Layton responded with his 15th goal of the year for the Juniors in the 1st, followed by Matthew Brenton's 4th,5th and 6th of the year goals of the year. Jake Allen settled down after allowing the goal in the first and made 28 saves for the Juniors in the win and earning the honor of first star of the game.

Montreal, who now have a record of 20-16-1, continue their road trip on Tuesday when they face Drummondville at 7:30 pm.
