After what seemed like an eternity, Lou finally signed a UFA. And I could not be happier. Dainius Zubrus agreed to come play for the Devs today for 6 years at $20.4 mill per. Some may balk at the length, but the dollar value makes this signing worth while. Doing the simple mathmatics that I have aquired at one of the best schools in the nation, IMHO, that comes out to around $3.4 mil per. Considering we have entered the age of $10 million contracts, this is a great deal. The money is only one reason why I love this. The second reason I love this is due to the fact that Zubrus is Lithuanian. I am half Lithuanian. There are only 2 other Lithuanians I can think of off the top of my head that play(ed) in the NHL, Darius Kasparaitis and Sergei Zubov, who is not really a Lith but his mother was. I will not be refering to Dainius as my Lithuanian Homeboy and hopefully he can have a productive six years here in the swamp, I mean Newark.
