The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Peter Harrold to a three-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Harrold, 25, played in 25 games for the Kings last season, recording five points (2-3=5) and two penalty minutes. He scored his first career NHL goal on February 23 vs. Chicago. Harrold also played in 49 regular season games for the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, recording 43 points (7-36=43) and 25 penalty minutes. In four playoff games with Manchester, he had one assist and four penalty minutes.

The 5-11, 195-pound native of Kirtland Hills, Ohio, began his professional career in 2006-07. In 12 games with the Kings that season he had two points (both assists) and eight penalty minutes. In addition, he had 34 points (7-27=34) and 43 penalty minutes in 62 regular season games and 11 points (3-8=11) and 18 penalty minutes in 16 postseason games with the Monarchs.

Harrold was originally signed by the Kings on April 12, 2006.

We still need to sign someone to run the pp. Most defensemen take years to develop so it will be asking a lot for Doughty and Hickey to make the club.
