Hey guys.
Seeing as this is my first post I think I should introduce myself. My name is Matt and I'm 15 years old. I live in Cincinnati, OH and I'm mainly a Columbus Blue Jackets fan. I've been a hockey fan my entire life, when my parents raised me on the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and IHL. And ever since, I've been hooked. With that, let's blog.

The one thing the Blue Jackets are really hurting for is a big time goalie. And the fact that the Jackets organization is reluctant to open their pocket books doesn't help much either. Ron Tugnutt and Marc Denis couldn't get it done on the cheap, and if this team wants to make it out of last place, they've gotta start to spend.

Ron Tugnutt - 34-52-8 (.395 WP) 2.65 GAA $4.8M total (2 years)
Marc Denis - 74-146-25 (.336 WP) 3.05 GAA $5.4M total (5 years)
Pascal Leclaire - 17-30-5 (.361 WP) 3.10 GAA $1.3M total (2 years)
Freddie Norrena - 24-23-2 (.510 WP) 2.78 GAA $750 K total (1 year)
(Stats with CBJ)

Numbers don't lie. The only real bright spot in the last seven years has Freddie Norrena, but he might yet be a one hit wonder. Marc Denis, who earned the second most annually of all four, went 27-41-8 in 2002-03. That's why I say go out and get some big names. Ed Belfour, Curtis Joseph, hell, even David Aebischer to either compliment or start behind Freddie. And, in all likelihood, you probably wouldn't be shelling out more than $2.5M for any of the three.

Ed Belfour - 484-320-111 (.602 WP) 2.50 GAA $750 K (Would want $1.7-2M)
Curtis Joseph - 446-341-90 (.567 WP) 2.78 GAA $2.0M ($1.5-2.5M)
David Aebischer - 106-73-12 (.592 WP) 2.51 GAA $1.9M ($1-1.4M)
(Career. Salary as of 2006-07)

The Jackets have all the puzzle pieces lined up, just pound in the cornerstone.
