Tomorrow at 7 PM eastern time, the maple leafs will battle the hurricanes. Now leaf fans, expect Toskala to start because his performance against the Montreal canadiens was something that will bench Raycroft for a while. One interesting note about Toskala's performance...did you see his lateral movement? It was lightning fast.

Keys to victory
Carolina is more of a controlling type of team. Brind'amour will win a great number of face offs, and Eric Staal, a once 100 point man can hurt ya on any careless mistakes. That being said, Paul Maurice should send Sundin (2nd best faceoff man) to match Brind'amour. Take no careless powerplays, Carolina will hurt you.

In the game against Montreal, The Antropov, Sundin, Blake line did not seem to work very well, but replacing Blake with Ponikerovsky proved to be sucessfull, and I don't see why they wouldn't be put on the same line again.

Assuming that our defense is able to slow down Staal, Brind'amour and Cole, The maple leafs should be able to squeek out a victory.

My prediction?
Leafs win 4-2
Goals by Antropov, Blake, Steen, Sundin for the leafs

Whitney, Staal for Hurricanes

You know, I was listening on NHL Home Ice XM 204 on satellite radio, and Scott Laughlin had on the show Chuck Kaiton, the play-by-play for the Hurricanes. This Carolina Hurricanes team is a mysterious force now in the NHL. Many analysts are calling this team "a bunch that resembles the Stanley Cup team of 2005-06." I'm willing to bet that the four matchups this season between the Maple Leafs and Hurricanes will be tight contests not because of this aura around them that analysts have given the Canes. But I think it's because of the tight race that these two teams found themselves in leading into the playoff race at the end of the year. So, with that, I think that the four game matchups between the Leafs and Canes will be a split 2-2 on the season series. Whether or not this game tonight will be a Leafs' victory, well, your guess is as good as mine considering it's still a bit early to tell.

92, I do think that Sundin has to play with an edge, even if it means taking a penalty. The team sure picked it up on Saturday against Montreal when they saw him bowl over Andre Markov. I agree with all the rest of your posting. Thanx for this
