Hockey = Social Life

Posted 10:57 AM ET | Comments 2
Since it's the off-season, I feel like about a third of my social life has gone away.

There are so many people we see only during hockey season, so many activities that are directly a result of Preds games.

First there are our cellmates in Sections 303 and 304. They've been with us through wins, through losses, through that time Paul and I got to do an on-ice contest and lost through a terrible twist of fate . . .

Then there are our buddies who sit elsewhere in the Sommet Center and meet us at the post-game show: Brett and Ann, Bryce and Danielle, etc. Paul sees a lot of his current and former co-workers, and I get to see some of my former co-workers. And of course, we listen to Willy Daunic, who is starting to feel like family at this point.

Away games bring their own set of social functions with them. We don't have cable at home, so we hit local establishment Batter'd and Fried to watch the games in HD. The staff, especially Samantha and Josef, get used to seeing us once a week or sometimes watch the games along with us.

So, come October, I'll be a much busier, and happier, social butterfly.

I know what you mean--life feels so empty without hockey season!
