Politics and Sports are mixing again. I am not a fan of this at all. Politics should stay out of the Sports arena.

I hope they boo her!!!

i couldnt agree more on the mixing of politics and sports. i wonder if ed realizes the rift hes gonna cause between his own fans at what should be a unifying night to start the season. personally, i look forward to booing her off the ice faster than brian savage

Y'know both Republicans and Democrats like Hockey. Most go to games in a Bi-partisan fashion, where it doesn't matter who you vote for, when you wear the orange and black, you're a friend. Both parties agree, that whatever is wrong with the country, it's probably the Ranger's fault. Don't give Flyer fans somthing else to fight with each other on...

This is an absolute disgrace. Unfortunately, my dad has the tickets for that night and not me, but I hope she is booed out of the city. This can only have negative consequences. We all love hockey as an escape to get away from politics and life. Ed Snider has done a major disservice to the hockey fans of Philadelphia who have given him the fortune he has amassed over the past 40 years.

As an army veteran I have to say the only disgrace is you liberal fool's are talking about how you are going to boo Palin off the ice. I will personally be at the game to support her and the Flyers.

I boo Flyers007 and Palin.Seriously, this is ridiculous. A Flyers game should not be turned into a political stunt. Very sad.
October 8, 2008 5:58 PM ET | Delete
You probably boo America as well. Obviously you do if you support Obama who is friends with Bill Ayers, a domestic terrorist that bombed the Pentagon. As if that was not bad enough Obama also sat in a church for 20 years listening to Reverend Wright talk about how white people are the scum of the earth. Your an idiot with no life who has never done anything for your country.

I'm not going to bother arguing with someone who throws out ridiculous stereotypes. Get past the dumb talking points and maybe we can have a real conversation. Ciao.

Thanks for your service Flyers 007. I hope the fans will respect her and not give the national media ANOTHER reason to bash Philly and its fans -- If they boo her off the Ice the next VP of the USA will take the place of Santa Clause for 10.5 months out of the year We live in a civilizied society --- I hope we can act like we know that

The woman believes dinosaurs and humans shared the planet at the same time. I guess all of us scientists ran around burying dinosaur bones and inventing radioactive dating just to confuse our poor fundamentalist citizens. This woman is a disgrace to advancing the education of this country as we fall further and further behind secular markets such as China and Russia, we will vote for someone who impedes the future education of our children to compete in a new global economy shame on you who support this undereducated hick.

I love Palin. She's all Mavericky.Sorry, but the fact that this race was ever even close indicates there's something very wrong with the country to the south.

im so happy you guys open the season against us. CANT WAIT TO BOO AT MY TV! hope she cries.
October 8, 2008 11:23 PM ET | Delete
Ugh. Regardless of my political views, as a woman I can't stand her. If she is such a strong woman why does she constantly dumb herself down. It was a cheap ploy to pick her for a running mate and an insult to women. I'm really sad that now something I was really looking forward to is now tainted.
October 8, 2008 11:26 PM ET | Delete
Liberals are such hypocrites. They are always calling conservatives the hate mongers. But the only hate I see here is from misguided, misinformed people.
October 8, 2008 11:33 PM ET | Delete
LOL! "A cheap ploy and insult to women!!!!" What a joke ... she is the GOVERNOR OF ALASKA! As a woman you should be proud, regardless of the business of politics. But why in the world does this really matter? Politicians and celebrities drop the puck and throw the opening pitch ALL THE TIME! Especially Presidents and Vice-Presidents in office or running for that office. How about not making a big deal about it by . . . NOT making a big deal about it!
October 8, 2008 11:34 PM ET | Delete
Let me rephrase those first few lines, in case anyone misunderstands...LOL! "A cheap ploy and insult to women?!?!?!" What a joke! She is the . . .

Anybody wanna bet that the vast majority of true-blue, hard-core, hockey fans are conservatives?!?!
October 9, 2008 12:23 AM ET | Delete
Go Sarah! If Flyers fans boo her, they just make idiots of themselves! No matter what your political stand is, you should not boo her, as she is just there to drop the puck!
October 9, 2008 2:46 AM ET | Delete
I could usually care less about Palin, but now she's tainted what I thought was my most enjoyable escape from her and the like-minded simpletons who actually think she's worthy of being President of the United States of America, should McCain keel over. I'd like to hope that she steps off the red carpet, slips and cracks her empty noggin... but the puppet strings that have had her dancing around from day one would probably prevent that. But I don't hate her MBFlyer fan... I'll leave the hate for the faux conservatives still clinging to their dying ideology. Have fun watching Obama become the next president, because I think the majority of Americans want answers right now, not hate.

Politics and sports have been married for as long as both have been around. If it bothers you that much that a politician is going to attend "your" hockey game, then just dont show up. For that matter, sell your tickets and stop supporting the team all together!!! This type of thing is common and should not be taken personally, but if it bothers you that much that your team supports the Republican Party, then just stop supporting them.
October 9, 2008 10:08 AM ET | Delete
Perhaps if she didn't speak like an uneducated hillbilly all the time I'd be able to take her a little more seriously.
October 9, 2008 10:31 AM ET | Delete
Like i posted on the other blog that was just posted today....No matter what the INTENT is, perception will win out. the intent maybe good "hockey mom" but the perception will be its political...Politics and sports IMO have not been joined...they have been merged due to drugs etc....But, for the most part politics have stayed out of the hockey sports venue.

I remember being at at the preseason game when George W. gave his speech about all the 9-11 mess and what he planned to do. They played it in between the second and third period on the big screen. At the start of the third period they removed it only to have the fans chant to have it turned back on. The flyers never finished the game but every person, including the players watched and listened to what the president had to say. I truely miss how close I felt to each and every other American that night. We put aside our differences and political agendas to do what we believed to be right. The time has come again to not vote for a party, but to vote for the best person for the job. I try to educate myself on the candidates as much as possible and I only see a lot of finger pointing and mud slinging and no real answers. I don't care if Palin or Putin for that matter drops the puck. It is nothing more then an advertisement for an agenda. Oh btw the way, I do vote and hope you all do too. Want to know who created most of our debt over the last 70 years?http://www.cedarcomm.com/~stevelm1/usdebt.htmHave a look for yourself. To me the solutions are pretty simple. Remove oil as the main energy source and replace it with a hydrogen infrastructure. Take care of our children and elderly. Defend our nation without be the world's policemen. Replace the broken, loophole riddled tax system with a progressive tax system that is fair to everyone. A renew the manufacturing industry so the average Joe can support his family.

Perhaps if your name wasnt "Benny" we would take you a little more seriously.

I love Sarah Palin. Good for the Flyers and another reason to love Ed Snider. i'll be cheering my lungs out for this great American. Go Flyers, GO PALIN.
October 9, 2008 11:45 AM ET | Delete
Oh and she'll get her boos too BUT the majority prob will cheer as most of the folks that would boo her wouldn't be at the game anyways.
October 9, 2008 12:08 PM ET | Delete
I think Flyer007 wants Bush and McCain to give him the shocker at the same time while we believes the last 8 years of Republicans was a blessing to his economically raped country. Buddy, Palin should be booed and will be booed. She is a liar and an idiot. Flyer007 must be a true Vet praising a false image and a person who with her sidekick (mcSame) lie and disrespect in an attempt to win an election in which they have no political platform.. and why's that?? Because the Bush Adminstration wrote it 8 years ago!! Go going Vet .. you're a disgrace to the army ...
October 9, 2008 12:13 PM ET | Delete
Hockeylover, I want to hear you reasoning for why Most who will boo Palin wont be at the game??? Are you referring to those people as poor? gay? Democrates arn't hockey lovers too??? Im Confused, please clarify ...and to say Palin is a great American .. WOW, you are either high as a kite or completely retarded ... Some Patriot you are ... Abraham and JFK are probably rolling in their graves right in disgust ..
October 9, 2008 12:15 PM ET | Delete
I guess any lying, cheating, self centered, stupid, disrespectful, rude, uniformed person in America is Also a Great American too .. Hell, the paper boy is a Great American! It's funny Tina Fey making fun of Palin still sounds more intelligent then her and she isnt trying too
October 9, 2008 12:18 PM ET | Delete
Hey, Palin dropping the puck might get votes from American hockey Lovers ... All 25 of them .... Bettman is ruining the sport ... 6 Canadian teams? and those 6 teams combined have more fan base than 24 American teams combined let alone 80% of all teams players come from Canada! GG paliN!
October 9, 2008 12:19 PM ET | Delete
Well you're a lib so no wonder why you are confused. When you break down the state of PA and the blue vs red locations of the state the majority of blue (democrat voting) is from the urban locals. So namely your minority voters. No offense but hockey isn't too populated with minoritys. Now before I get accused of racisism which is another liberal ploy alls I'm saying is that polling a crowd at the Wachovia Center you don't see too many minority folks. Again, she'll get booed but maybe not as much as she would say at an Eagles game or Sixers game. But thanks to lowering yourself with name calling. Typical liberal under the guise of thinking they "get it". Funny we give our opinion that we support her and we get jumped all over.
October 9, 2008 12:24 PM ET | Delete
Oh that's right ducey ONLY Republicans lie, never Democrats. But yeah, I'm the stupid one. Talk about uniformed. Try looking in a mirror.
October 9, 2008 3:56 PM ET | Delete
with this banter...this clearly shows that politics should stay out of our hockey arena's...thanks to all who posted.
