This Years Flames Team.

It appears as though certain players have been placed on waivers that we are hearing about and it's tough to see as it means some kids who had really good camps will not catch a break this year due to the one way contracts already doled out.

Jamie Lundmark, Colin Stuart and Jason Jaffray

Jaffray in particular I am sad to see go, as far as this pre-season I liked his ability to do whatever they asked of him. He hit, he scored, he assisted, blocked shots and killed penalties, in another year he would have stayed.

Lundmark is again going to the AHL, he is a really serviceable guy to have but you get the feeling his time is done despite how hard he tried. Backlund, Wahl, Armstrong are all coming down the pipe and he just can not compete.

Colin Stuart seemed like a good player but no more remarkable than Prust or really anyone else he was trying to beat.

No word on the defense yet which I find very interesting, one of them has to go and even though Stralman is on a two way they have not let him go yet. Kronwall was by all accounts outplayed by Stralman and both would have to clear waivers before being sent down. The fact that neither has been released says to me that Sarich is not 100% and might not start the season until he's all healed up. Either way when one of those guys gets waived the likelihood of them being claimed is very high.

Theo retired today, I was lucky enough to see him in his pre-season return game where he scored the shoot out winner. He's a special player in that he could be idenitified with by all of the every day guys out there who feel like an underdog. No one has worn #14 since he left and very soon they will make that official, no matter what I will do what it takes to be at that game.

Stralman got traded... Sutter just traded Primeau, and a 2nd rounder for a third rounder, a minor leaguer and a 5th rounder... worst trade since kobasew for stuart.25 players remaining on the roster 3 fwds on waivers 22 players outside of them (not including armstrong on the roster) Does he get a shot?

Well he traded Primeau's salary as well which is worth something. Armstrong has been injured most of camp he will not be with the big club, what you see is what you get this year. I heard about the trade just after posting this! Bad timing! a 3rd and a 5th can be moved into a low 2nd....some of our best picks are 3rd rounders though! Boyd comes to mind first!

Someone explain why we traded for Stralman when he apparently had zero chance of being given a roster spot? There is no WAY Kronwall outplayed him in this preseason. We might as well have just send Primeau to the minors. The whole thing was just ridiculous.

P.S. I was at the Fleury "shootout" game too...was little bit of left over magic, and was great to see! Agreed...the jersey should be lifted to the rafters ASAP now.
