Jokinen should go.

5.25 MILLION

That should buy you a lot in the NHL, a top tier player, a player that is a huge threat and compliments your team. Jokinen is in a contract year, has never really proven himself to be a game breaker and has zero chemistry with Iginla. That doesn't mean that a huge number 1 center doesn't have trade value though, in fact Jokinen could garner a lot of interest.

Iginla is not going anywhere let's face it, even though he's lost a step it seems. So what do you do with Jokinen?

Here's a guy I would love to look at!

Marc Savard- currently 5 million and also a UFA but also more like a consistent 90 point player. He had great chemistry with Iginla while in Calgary until Greg Gilbert made him actually work. He's grown since then though.

Could it be possible to poach a young up and comer with cap issues? Like a Mike Richards who is making comparable money but fits into Sutter's system way better. He also used to play for Sutter in Red Deer.

Do the Penguins really need Jared Stall to be their third line center? He makes 4 million and he is capable of lot more than we have seen but unable to show it in the shadow of two of the greatest centers in the league right now.

You could look at guys like Getzlaf and Perry too but the reality is they are locked up long term and will probably not move for a very long time.

The basic fact though is that Conroy is not a long term solution at center for Iginla, he needs a center that is crafty and can score to take the heat off of him and give him room.

If Calgary could score some draft picks that would be nice as well.

Mike Richards doesn't really have cap issues. And there is really no way Philly would send out there best player for Jokinen, or anyone really. But I do agree that Cal does need to find a replacement for him, he isn't really gelling with Iggy

Every one of those centres would be great but in no way will those teams give them up for Jokinen. I do not know if there is even a package the flames could put together worthy of any of those guys.Savard stopped playing for Gilbert when he made him work...Would Brent Sutter make him do?

Maybe Cammaleri straight up for Jokinen? LOL.

I agree totally with this. However, you're never going to pry Richards out of Philadelphia, same with Perry and Getzlaf. Marc Savard is an interesting option though, as he did have great chemistry with Iggy is an actual true playmaker. Joker and Iggy are too similar and it won't work. Getting Savvy out of Boston might be tough, but Jokinen might actually fit in better there...

Jokinen is Stanley Cup kryptonite to any team and the entire NHL knows it. There's no way he's being traded for any marque player worth any value.

big two way centre? yah the 5 mil is a hard pill, but langkows 4.5. Jokinen needs to find a role on the team and excel at it, a big checking third line centre isn't something i'd object to him being, conroys solid two ways but won't give anyone on the other team thoughts about being run over... or bruised for that matter.

Ollie needs to figure out his crap and start scoring.

The Flyers wouldn't trade Richards for Crosby...

Looks like Matthew Barnaby was right all along last year at the trade deadline about this guy....

It's 7 games in, take it easy. In 3 months the "how can Sutter re-sign Joker?" talk will start

I knew this was going to happen as soon as they traded for Jokinen. He can be an effective player, but he really isnt a go to guy. Even more important, Iginla needs a playmaking centre and Jokinen is a goal scorer. Anything you can get for him would be great, use the cap space to get another centre or stick with Langkow or Conroy until a guy like Backlund develops/

I was waiting until some blog like this. I agree completely, I'm not going to call him a cancer but he's completely useless. However I will also agree with the view that you are out of your mind if you think the Flames could even get someone close to the players you listed for Jokinen; the whole league knows about him now. I hope I'm wrong but I have no faith at all in this guy.

pleks for jokinen! perfect solution ! lol

There isn't a single player you listed that the Flames could get. Savard might be the only exception, but Boston let Kessel go so they could sign guys like Savard. So even that's a huge longshot. I'd trade half the freakin' team for a Getzlaf or a Richards...

Jokinen should stay he has a great shot is good physically and on the pk and shoot out he still needs more time to get going. He isn't playing any worse than Jarome Iginla so far and Iggy's making 7M should we be treding him?
