Flames Post Mortem

Posted 11:08 AM ET | Comments 8
I have my scalpel, I'm ready to do the post mortem.

8:45 A.M April 7th

My first incision into this body that represents the Flames organization is where I would typically find something wrong, the brains. I'm seeing some slight decay where the contract negotiation cluster is and also some decay in the trade stem.

Conclusion:
Darryl Sutter's 2010 season will go down as the biggest failure of his career, there is no debating that now, maybe he'll be around to have a great 2011 starting with the draft but for right now it's a failure. Everyone who reads these boards does not need to be reminded of the trades that are so controversial now, my take is that it's not who was moved but what was returned! Moving Dion and Jokinen was a good idea! Getting no stud number one center or first rounder for them was not good. I will break down the players later but in essence Darryl Sutter has failed to meet the organizations needs and it remains to be see if they will let him fix it or simply turn the page.

8:47 A.M.

I have made my first cut into the torso and all the guts poured out, there is Nystrom fluid and Brett Sutter excrement every where!! Obviously the grinding portion of this team was in good health, the guts of the team, the dig down deep guys were all pretty good. This stomach seems to be missing a Prust and I also found an aging Mayers overall but is doing pretty good.

Conclusion:
No Problem with the guts.

8:52 A.M

I have found something curious which seems to be blocking everything, I am now making an incision around the rib cage to find out what the stoppage is... Ah..A Kiprusoff that explains everything. Not making the playoff will eliminate Kipper from Vezina talk but his numbers were excellent.

Conclusion:
This was the strongest part of this dead team!

8:55 A.M.

I had to dig very deep to find the heart, it was very tough indicating that the heart of this team has been running too long and not being able to infuse new blood has slowly let it kill itself.

Conclusion:
I think I've found one possible cause of death, Regehr, Iginla and Langkow have a sense of ownership in this heart, that they can dictate to everyone, including the brain, how this body should be run and that has created a cancer. Simply excising two of these three could have given this body new life and better over all state.

9:00 A.M.

Coffee break.

9:10 A.M.

Curiously this body has no hands.

Conclusion:
Scoring was a persistent problem, All of the new guys has issues with finding the net, no one is a keeper with the exception of White.

Cause of death:

This death was caused by acute noscoreanitis, inflamed by badtradeorhea. Always next year.

I'm surprised you actually found any heart at all. Maybe they had it, but just didn't bring it to the rink on game night.
