What are the chances Patty Kane took a cab home last night after landing in Chicago??? What?? I'm just saying...

Now that the Blackhawks have won the cup, congratulations Chicago fans, they can now look forward to clearing out salary. It's too bad they can't keep this team together but that gaff by Tallon when he didn't get the offers to his restricted free agents in time might have cost this team another cup. Conversely he built this team into what it is today with some pretty incredible talent. Again good on them and also to Philly who were warriors and took the best team in the NHL to their limits. Jeff Carter is welcome in Calgary BTW.

Interesting interview with D.Sutter on the fan 960 yesterday. Apparently Toskala is looking to be a #1 goalie somewhere, I think Toskala had his chance to be the man in Toronto and basically failed with flying colours. He's in that same category as Theodore, Huet and Raycroft, in other words pretty good but not great and make way too much money for how good they are.

If you read between the lines he also was posturing at not re-signing Nystrom or Higgins, he said about Nystrom, "you can't over pay for a 10 goal scorer" and about Higgins, "We haven't even started talking because he hasn't been cleared yet", referring to his medical clearance to play.

He also intimated between the lines again that White would be re-signed one way or another, either through arbitration or negotiation. Giordano's Contract is up after this upcoming season and Sutter did state you can only have three high priced D. If I was to guess he's talking about Bouwmeester and Giordano so where does that leave White, Sarich and Regehr? It would seem that if signing Giordano is a priority, which it is, the by his own admission some guys will have to move. He also stated that the Flames were overloaded in D and he'd like to make room for some kids eventually, Pelech is for sure ready but Negrin is also very good.

Conroy has not been approached by the Flames yet and it seems that if he does get signed it will be the last priority of management.

The last bit of news was that he plans on qualifying his RFA's, or at least he thinks so.

When discussing the Draft he thinks the first 5-7 are very high end and the next 60 are another category but was also, in typical Sutter fashion, making his low picks seem good. He said "we have 5 picks in the first 100 which is really good. What is that saying about lipstick and pigs again? Pearls on swine? A pig is a pig and a 4th round pick is a 4th round pick. He believes that to get a 1st rounder you have to trade a good player, I think he should, Regehr and Langkow are the first two that come to my mind but everyone will have their own opinion. In my mind the Draft is where G.M.'s make their living, the future is always the most important thing coupled with balance on your current roster, both are out of whack right now with inflated contracts and no blue chip prospects. Shipping a big contract for a blue chip prospect would be a move I would support. Columbus has said outright that their pick is up for grabs and if you can get that pick and make another deal up...

Great blog! You actually calculate real rumors unlike "eklund". I think the flames should move up in the draft to acquire a solid prospect too. Keep the news coming and you'll be a rumor goddess.

There are Several rumors some I even like great job as usual buddy. I expect the Flames are going to move up.

Flamestr- to the fan's credit they asked outright if he'd make a move for a first and he just sidestepped it by saying that you'd have to trade a good player, not really diffinitive either way.

The main problem were having saneopinio is that we are in Cap heck. We have no room to improve this team and way to many stupid NTC on the payroll.

I think we get a low 1st/high 2nd for Reggie.

No playoffs = players waiving NTC Sutter thinks we're close, dont expect blowups, same old sameold

That is what I am worried Kevin about same old same old.

Kevin- I think Sutter already feels the heat, no pun intended, so to just stand pat on several bad contracts would be not received well. He'll make moves or at least really try. Watch the draft he'll be chatty. In case you guys weren't aware he's good friends with the Philly G.M. Just putting that out there...

The concern I have is the system, it really forces the Flames to play perfect defense. It does not give enough offensive freedom to make up for defense breakdowns. We have to get some more offensie Sutter has to get the more offense in.

I think Carter can be had/ Kipper is the price, but if we give Kipper
