Flames quick hits

So if Kotalik can be "persuaded" to play in Russia and Langkow can be buried in the IR as to not count against the cap due to his broken vertebrae in his neck...and White re-signs then what does Sutter do with the space he has left? Still too many D!!! It's almost universal everyone wants Robyn "Rocket" Regehr gone now as well as Sarich for the most part. Staios can stay, he'll make a great practice pylon for Bourque.

My biggest problem with Jokinen coming back is that once again Backlund is going to be on the farm. Incredibly aggravating.

Director of amateur scouting Mike Sands was canned a couple days ago apparently, the Flames should have made a presser about this to get some fans on side. The pro scouting seems good, I personally do not have a huge problem with it. At any rate new faces in the amateur scouting will be good, give them a year to take on the roll and who know...maybe they will have an incredible pick to work with next year??

Nystrom as a Wild player seems weird to me but maybe he can get a chance there he didn't get here. Higgins in Florida kind of baffles me as well, I guess the money was what I thought it would be so if the Flames made him a serious offer he must just like the Sun and lack of reporters.

I kind of hate that the Flames brought in two tough guys, it's so passé.

Have a great weekend!!

I heard about the scouting firing too and immediately wondered why the Flames didn't make a big deal about it to say "Hey Fans, we're changing things!"

Yeah I think that they probably thought it wouldn't be very classy thing to do but the P.R. needed is also something they should consider, I think by next year at the draft you'll hear more about it.

Backlund will be playing Calgary FOR SURE this year. There is no way they can put him down there again. His time is now. He could be the number one centermen come December...as soon as OJ Take II dies on the table

If Sutter said Jokinen is the #1 center, and he did, and Stajan is being paid to be the #2 if Langkow is injured do you play Backlund on the #3 line? When Langkow comes back what then? Unless a center gets moved I think Backlund might not make this team.
