Giordano Off to Russia

Posted 6:15 PM ET | Comments 3
For all you Flame fans, I'm here to break the news that the emerging offensive Flame defenseman is off to hone his skills in Russia. According to a very close source to the situation, the Flames are opting to go with a veteran line-up and a run for the cup. Giordano a RFA, was offered a two way deal to stay with the Flames for half of the $800,000 he will receive in Russia. The deal is done and Giordano will be leaving for Russia as early as this week.

Personally, I think the Flames are making a mistake letting him go. He was emerging as a top four d, for the Flames. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Aucoin fan, but let's face it, since the lock-out he has not been the same effective d, since his Islander days. In fact, he looks bulkier and less mobile.

This is my first blog on hockeybuzz.com and why not begin it with a scoop while Eklund et al., were sleeping at the switch. I look forward to future blogs.

PS: Another close source, spoke at lenghth with JFJ about Antropov and JFJ emphatically believes, Antropov will be a player. JFJ, how many more years do Leafs have to wait for this guy to develop? How did JFJ get his job? I want to apply.

More on the state of Leafnation on a later day.

I hope this isn't true... i like Giordano and feel he was just about ready to anchor the 3rd pairing.

Had to admit I was skeptical but NHLPA.com is not listing him as on the flames roster unsigned or on the nhlpa site at all.
