Preds Win In MoTown!

Loyal Predjoe Blog Reader: Hey Joe you know that we lost last night right? In a shootout?

Predjoe: We won baby!

LPJBR: Oh...I get it. This is about the disallowed goals from last night.

PJ: Heck yeah baby...V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!

LPJBR: Ok...what are you smokin and can I have some?

Folks...this is how I feel today. I feel like the Preds won that game last night. I am not going to spend time talking about disallowed goals or questionable penalties because I am talking positive here. If you watched that game that I watched last night I think you have to agree that the Preds won.

While the final score does not reflect my statement what transpired last night did. The Preds were down 2-0 to the top team in the West last night and came back. A team that, when they have the lead, locks up their blueline and posts a 'Do Not Enter Sign.' The Preds were outplayed and outshot big time through two periods (30-14) but we turned the tide in the third. Playing with passion and grit we fought back scoring two goals in the final 10 minutes to force OT. This is why the Preds won in my book.

No one watching that game thought the Preds stood a chance. Heck...even Pete Weber said that fans were leaving when Dan Hamhuis was called for hooking at 16:19 of the third with the Preds down by one. The Preds killed off that penalty and even played a little in the Wing's end and then scored with less than two minutes left when Alexander The Great made a gorgeous pass to JP Dumont beat red hot Chris Osgood (there is a disturbance in the force when Osgood is one of the hottest goalies in the NHL...wasn't he left for dead by the wings years ago?). That was when we won the game.

From here on out this comeback should give the Preds confidence...something that had been lacking here early in the season.

Other Thoughts:

Chris Mason played great but didn't impress during the shootout. Chris has got to feel good about this game and the team has to feel like Chris is playing the way they knew he could. Mason faced 45 shots last night and with the exception of getting frozen by Zetterberg he looked great...he got a toe on Datsyuk's shootout goal and nearly stopped it.

Alexander The Great is playing incredible. He is making plays and taking shots. He is just starting to find his game at this level. I believe we are only getting a sneak peak at his potential.

Not Ignoring: Yes Pred fans I realize that many of you think that we were robbed last night but there is nothing that can be done about that. I could write an entire post on the phantom calls and the two goals that could have been...but I chose to stay positive and so should you.

Being a Blues fan, I can't say I like the Preds, but man, there is nothing more glorious than seeing Detroit lose, regardless of whether they deserved to or not.

Good job pj and I've got to agree with everything you said. I felt pretty good about a lot of what our team accomplished last night, not as good as I would have with a win, but OK. (Well, almost. The shootout was a bit deflating) Anyway, love your positive attitude. That's what it takes.
