JayBo to Philadelphia? In a NY Minute!

With all due respect to Danny Briere, I would drive the face of the franchise for Homer's 2007/08 off-season acquisitions directly to the airport, speeding past cops on I-95 and waving them on to give me a police escort and give Ryan Parent or Randy Jones bus fare, two bucks for a cup of coffee an old copy of Maxim in order to land one of the young, premier shutdown defenseman studs in the game.

This beast is 26 years old, 6'4" and 212 on dry land...imagine that mass barreling down on you with the help of being on skates and holding a weapon. Make no mistake, however, JayBo is not some goon. He was the #3 draft pick in the 2002 draft, played on the NHL-All-Rookie Team and in the NHL YoungStars Game in 2002-2003, made the NHL All-Star Team in 2006-07 with the following line:
Games
82
Goals
12
Assists
30
Points
42
+/-
+23
PIM
66
Shots
174

Currently, Bouwmeester leads a pretty bad Panthers team in games played, points scored, is third in PIM, tied for the lead in PP goals, leads PP assists and is second on the team in shots taken.

Is this guy the second coming? I don't know. Could he anchor the Flyers' first defensive pairing for many years to come? Abso-freakin-lutely! He is the sort of player that can change the way teams play against the Orange and Black - when was the last time we had a defender that could do such a thing?

I am thinking, Mark Howe.

If I were Homer, I would make this deal in a heart beat and not look back. Besides a solid #1 goalie, this would be the one piece that might help Philadelphia get over the hump and get back to playing for Lord Stanley's hardware. This guy is that good and he is unhappy where he is in South Florida. He just needs a transplant to South Philly.

Bring JayBo HERE!
PLEASE!

I really hope your not comparing Bouwmeester to Mark Howe. Howe was a Hall of Fame level player. You've drastically overrated Bouwmeester. He's not that great defensively.

i would rather have briere then an over rated bouwmeester. Ryan parent will be a better defenseman then Bouwmeester ever will be. He is a ok offensive d man and the flyers don't need him. They need a guy like briere. I could care less if they trade jones at all for anything but trading briere and parent for bouwmeester would be insane.

I am not that excited about bringing in Bouwmeester, and I wouldn't include Parent in such a deal.

If it appeared on Hockeybuzz.com, you can be sure it is definitely NOT going to happen. Can any one tell me when the last time a "rumored" trade on this site actually happened? Oh yes, Sudin did sign with a team in the NHL.

I'm another member of the club who's not enthralled with Boumeester. He's a nice player, but I do think he's overrated mostly from being the best player on a very bad team.

Not sure I can agree with this trade. Briere and Jones maybe and I would want something else back like Markov or a center. I'm not sold that this team has that much depth on forward..especially with all their injuries and am a bit concerned trading a top 6 forward.

J-Bo is FAAAAAAR from a premier SHUTDOWN defenceman. OVER RATED, Besides Briere would never waive his NMC to go to the Panthers.

If it gets Briere out of here, I'd do it.

I like Briere. I like what he did later last season and in the playoffs. And he produces again this year when he was playing. A healthy Briere can only help this team.
