Headline: Ryan Smyth out eight weeks with ankle injury
http://thehockeynews.com/...ks-with-ankle-injury.html

The question must be raised now, with our mounting injuries to our key players (Joe, Ryan, Tyler, etc, etc), is it time to push the panic button (or the Staples 'Easy Button') to make a trade for role players?

I wouldn't push the panic button quite yet, but with the all the things going wrong for the Avs (goaltending, defense, pp, injuries, etc) it may be time to shake things up a bit, especially as the season is only going to get harder down the stretch. Guys like Raffi Torres, Chris Kelly or Ryan Malone would be good up front; while Tomas Kaberle or Jason Smith would provide a more stable defensive core.

Names going the other way could include Liles, Svatos, Arnason, even Budaj, depending on certain factors).

It's gut check time for Colorado knowing that the two senior leaders in Sakic and Smyth are out for a long time.
